More good vibes in the VQ War Room on Abernathy, Richmond and Tuttle.
You put those three in the 247 class calculator and we move up to 2nd .

On Abernathy
quote:
There are several important announcements scheduled over the next few months for Vol targets and the first one likely up is Atlanta cornerback Micah Abernathy. Abernathy has plans to announce before his first game and as we've said now for several weeks this is a Tennessee-Ohio State battle and we continue to hear that Abernathy is leaning towards the Vols at this point.
Ohio State is continuing to battle there, but we're told the family likes the idea of him playing under Jones who they've known for some time and are fond of. The family likes Ohio State as well, but right now it looks like Tennessee is the team to beat according to several close to the situation.
On Richmond
quote:
Drew Richmond is scheduled to announce a commitment on Sept. 9 and the race continues to be a tight one. But, the Vols are generating some consistent buzz here lately.
On Tuttle
quote:
North Carolina defensive tackle Shy Tuttle announced he will release a decision on Sept. 26 and we continue to believe, as we've said for some time now, Tennessee is in the driver's seat there. We will continue to monitor whether or not he takes official visits before that announcement date and that could be a factor, but right now Tuttle is Tennessee's to lose.

SC never had an elite recruiting class, ever. 2015 class might be their first great one.
Right now they have the numbers on everyone in the EAST. I imagine we will catch them once our class fills up but it should be interesting.

Tuttle is a Vol lock. UT will be the only school with 2 5* DT committed on NSD.
So far I give Butch A+ on recruiting which is more than half the battle. Hopefully he can coach them up real good.

You better start hoping the next coach you hire after these back to back 4-5 win seasons will coach them up.

I think we'll have something to say about this before it's over.

Lowndes says his dad doesn't want him to go to UGA

His other son played under Butch at Cincy...I don't see why it is so hard to believe the Vols are just winning this recruitment.

UT is clearly winning this recruitment.

Winning the parents is part of winning the recruitment.

Yeah, once I heard that his dad was cold on UGA I got a bad feeling. Then a sudden "family issue" (or something along those lines) caused him to miss his most recent planned visit with Slayton. I get the feeling our goose is cooked here, but we should at least have Slayton in his ear all year.
Is Abernathy an EE?
Posted on 8/15/14 at 10:11 am to Ericvol2096
I hope not. I think the longer his recruitment goes, the better it is for us. I think we're facing an uphill battle at the moment though. If we could somehow land Donte Jackson out of LA it would soften the blow some.

If that is true than he probably isn't coming to UGA. We seen parental influence with Mcgraw.

It isn't that he doesn't want him at UGA, it is that the "conversations" with UT have apparently been more convincing.
Seems very similar to the Rico to Bama situation from what is being said.

Not both parents, it sounds like just dad. Mom wants UGA.

Parents influence every kid's decision. Ultimately it is the kid's decision though. "Foul play" is a bit dramatic though.

Tuttle is a lock
Getting the feels with Abernathy
I still think Richmond could end up at UT, Miss, OSU, or Bama. He's hard to get a read on.
