In honor of LSU and Bama offering Mr. Moses, who's the best 8th grader you've ever seen playing varsity ball?

Only one guy stands out in my mind that I've seen personally -- Tim Castille (Briarwood in Bham).... saw Castille dominate the 3A state championship game in the late 90s (vs. Randolph Co)... crazy thing is, dude was a better 8th grader than senior.

Reggie Ragland was easily our best basketball player on the Varsity team when he was in 8th grade.

Edit: Just noticed you said football player. Oh well.

Was going to say Reggie Ragland. Wasn't he at Grissom for 8th grade basketball?

Yep. His 8th grade year and freshman year IIRC. His dad didn't like the coaches at Grissom so they moved him to Bob Jones. I played travel baseball with him and he was hitting it well over the 330ft fences when we were still in Little League. He was a freak.

I went to Mountain Gap. My 8th grade year Challenger had him and we still beat them I don't think he played basketball his freshmen year though, unless he just skipped on football that year. Pretty sure he went to BJ all four.

Are you a sophomore in college right now?

Tallest and skinniest guy isn't ringing a bell but my memory sucks.

Yeah, I'm a sophomore. If you went to Grissom I worked for the team there. Was fun but painful. Won more games this year than we did my last three years there

I was a coach for a pop warner team and we played against Ray Lewis III when he was in 8th grade. Kid was a baller.

Daquan Bowers had a scholarship offer to Clemson as a 7th grader. He was one of the most insane high school players I've ever seen.

The QB on my 8th grade football team was like 6'4" 245 and dominated everyone. He was unstoppable. He went on to be an Allstate pitcher his freshman year and hit 94 as a freshman. Then he got on drugs and got sent to Pensacola Fl for rehab or something and hasn't been heard from since. Dude is still an 8th grade legend though.

He had interest from every major school by the beginning of his sophomore year but was set on playing pro baseball.
