Hate to say it because he was a victim of a skewered coaching philosophy but Reggie McNeal. God, what a waste of awesome talent.

Vols have a pretty long list of 5* busts (bust is defined as not finishing career or never contributing at the school they signed with for grades, bad play or crime.)

2010 - Da'Rick Rogers
2009 - Bryce Brown and Janzen Jackson
2007 - Chris Donald, Kenny O'Neal, Brent Vinson
2006 - Walter Fisher
2005 - Demitrice Morely,
2002 - Mondre Dickerson, Brandon Jefferies, James Banks

Blaine Gabbert was a 5* and did pretty good for us. I disagree DGB was a bust, he was dominate when he wanted to be, and would've been a star this year had we not decided to kick him off. Richardson was also a star. We've only had 3 5* recently and all have done well.

2003
Justin Vincent - star his freshman season, bust thereafter

2004
Early Doucet - star
Xavier Carter - track star; decided to pursue career in track after a couple seasons..showed flashes of greatness every now and then, but was VERY raw..I'll never forget the infamous knee on the 1-yard line on a KO return

2005
Ryan Perrilloux - bust..could have been great if he hadn't tPOS'd out of LSU

2006
Al Woods - bust

2007
Chad Jones - star
Terrence Toliver - never really lived up to the star level, but hardly a bust

2008
Patrick Peterson - star
DeAngelo Benton -

2009
Rueben Randle - star
Russell Shepard - bust
Craig Loston - not quite a star, but far from bust
Chris Davenport - bust at LSU, star at Tulane

2010
Spencer Ware - borderline star

2011
La'el Collins - star
Anthony Johnson - not a star, bust? Maybe, given the hype surrounding his arrival
Jarvis Landry - star

2013
Tre'Davious White - star in the making
Frank Herron - likes bicycles

Tennessee has only signed 5 (using 247 or Rivals). None have really been busts.

Do you count Bryce Brown?

I was only including the last 5 years.

We have signed 22 five-stars since 2002. Yes, that includes Bryce Brown.

And still this fricking fanbase (in continual downsizing mode) STILL CAN'T LEARN that bringing in highly rated recruiting classes doesn't mean anything; its coaching and player development which everybody in the SEC knows that Coach bullshite doesn't have (except for the sympathizers)

these two came as a shock to me. i thought both would be gamechangers. I guess that Debose still has time to do something but is he even slated to start?

I remember there was so much hype surrounding Debose, especially after Harvin left. I was waiting for that kid to live up the hype.
