What's the latest on Mykel Jones?

His crystal ball has been flooding with Bama.

He's probably committing to Bama.

I passively followed his name because of the Shea Patterson connect.

Not a priority for us I don't think

I honestly had no idea we were that high on him until this past weekend. We are in the lead group for several WRs:

-Cavin Ridley (Calvin's brother)
-Darnell Saloman
-Demetris Robertson
-Keyshawn Young
-and now Mykel Jones.

I am curious to see how things shake out at that position. We already have one WR committed. I don't see us taking more than 4 total, and even that seems like it is pushing it given how few spots are left in this class.

Probably. I know it was debated at one time whether we offered Charlot to get to Mykel Jones, as Charlot didn't really blow up until the all-american game practices, and Jones was considered the better prospect when Charlot first committed.

I also think a part of offering and potentially accepting Jones's commitment is to keep the Louisiana pipeline flowing. Saban has worked hard to keep his foot in the door in Louisiana, as it was a tough nut to crack for awhile (similar to Mississippi).

I am not sure who else is on Jones's team that we might be after, but it's never a bad thing to have those relationships in tact.

I don't know. This thread has actually been pretty good for discussion so far. Tomorrow it will probably flame out like most recruiting threads, but at least it has started with some legitimate discussion. I was hoping to hear from LSU fans about his injury and progress since then. I know there are some LSU posters who are well connected to the high school football scene in Louisiana.

I was also hoping that some Tennessee fans could shed some light on him since he recently visited there.

If memphisplaya is right, could OM get a foothold into Mykel's recruitment if he goes to IMG?

Acl. He recently said lsu was in his top 3, but I think we've read the tea leaves on him wanting to go out of state and focused more on other guys. We. Just picked up a 3rd wr in a class everyone thought may take 2-4. I don't see us going too hard after anymore at wr unless we lose a current commit. Maybe drake Davis. We just have so many open spots on defense to fill though.

LSU isn't bothering with Jones or Clyde Chriss for that matter in-state. After getting Coxie to commit they are looking at Drake Davis and a few other OOS WRs for a possible 4th WR.

He liked his visit to Tennessee and said we were in top 2 or 3 but didn't name us the leader and speculation has been Bama is out on front by quite a bit over the rest.
