USCe used a similar defense to beat Bama in 2010, so yeah it's just as capable as any other defensive scheme.

In the 4-2-5 our LBs have run first responsibilities with our SPUR/STAR hybrid LB/S having joint run and pass duties.
In our 4-3, only 4 players, our defensive line, were run first. All of our LBs had joint passing responsibilities as well.
Also, considering one of our safeties, that Spur/Star who is the hybrid, is still supposed to be 210-220, and our LBs are supposed to be 230-250, our LB corps will be significantly bigger and powerful.
There are 6 players that are significantly larger than last year that are run first. So yes, the D will work against a heavy power team if the players aren't frick ups.
