According to a tweet by ESPN's Joe Schad that has been confirmed by 247Sports National Inside Ryan Bartow, Georgia will add Virginia transfer quarterback Greyson Lambert. The 6-foot-5, 235 pound signal caller decided that he would be leaving Virginia last month and took a visit to UGA this past weekend. Originally from Jesup, Ga and recruited by the Bulldogs out of high school., Lambert was the Caveliers leading passer a year ago going 154 of 261 through the air for 1,632 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He joins Brice Ramsey, Faton Bauta, and Jacob Park in Athens in a quarterback battle that is being labeled as open by UGA Head Coach Mark Richt.

Per a source close to the situation, Greyson Lambert and his father will visit Georgia Saturday and Sunday.

Lambert will then travel to Florida Sunday night and visit the Gators Monday.

Lambert has also heard from Colorado State, Fresno State, South Alabama and Purdue.

Lambert is set to graduate from Virginia June 23.

He will then immediately be eligible to play right away at the school he transfers to.

Lambert has two years of eligibility remaining.

As a sophomore, Lambert (6-5, 230) started nine games for the Virginia throwing for 1,632 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Would be a depth guy for UGA I'd imagine.

Are ya'll looking at another young guy coming into an Aaron Murray situation where it seems like he ends up playing for 7 years?

If all goes well we would like for Jacob Eason to come in and redshirt and then start for 3/4 years depending on his draft stock.

To be fair, we don't either.

We know their names and we have seen them throw but it's not the same talent level that you will see in Eason. Ramsey has a rocket arm but throws into coverage alot and makes poor decisions. Park just isn't polished and Bauta is just a solid qb but again nothing huge. This year will be a weird year at QB for UGA.

Luckily for ya'll, most schools have similar issues coming into this season. I guess it's a relatively good year to have QB questions

You guys, on the other hand, should be primed to make a splash. Solid QB...young talented guys all over your roster. This could be the year you show everybody you are on your way back. Most UGA fans point to you as a worrisome game.

We are lucky to have a solid QB with a high ceiling coming into the season, that is for sure. At this point, our O-Line is the biggest indicator of whether we will have a successful season or not. But I am being cautiously optimistic, a few injuries at certain spots could set us back big time.

The UGA/UT games have been great lately. I am hoping we can get over the hump this year in Neyland. If we can get You and UF knocked out early in the season (I am by no means saying that is a guarantee), we can be in the drivers seat for the East for the first time in a long time.

Could very well happen. The East honestly has never looked more wide open. Wouldn't suprise me at all to see UT win it. I know our team has a ton of question marks.

And there is the key. With a young team, if you can build a little confidence it could get ugly for the rest of us real quick.

And a good year to have a top tier QB coming back since there are so many question marks.

I remember it coming down to UT or State for Dobbs once everyone knew he wasn't going to Arizona State?. Looks like it turned out to be a pretty good recruiting victory for y'all.

It's not the worst place we've been at QB under richt. However the position is going to be the difference between 11-1 and 9-3 this year

Would be depth for UF. Grier and then whatever QB UF gets either this yr or next yr is the future of UF.

Well...yes. But you have been building your team. You had a long way to go, but every year some progress has been made.
