You're trying too hard here, guys.

Everyone knows that the thing UGA is best known for is Mark Richt underachieving. Thanks for playing, though.

maybe to your fans underachieving, but to the football world its thugs and no control or otherwise known as UGA football, accept it and stop being so oblivious

This guy.

Has spoken to every single football fan on the entire planet. How long did that take you champ?

ETA: Here's a hint... When you have to resort to such pitiful hyperbole's, you've already lost the battle.

It's not really hyperbole though. Just go check out any national board when these things happen. It isn't just UGA fans throwing this out on the blue board and scout and rivals. It comes from all over.

Stay oblivious though, it's what Auburn fans do best.

Do you know how to use the English language? What does "every single football fan" mean to you?

Yeah, I'm sure Oregon, Washington, Utah, etc. fans are all talking about another UGA player getting kicked off the team. I'm sure Tray Matthews is a household name over there.

I'm just wondering if you are that narrow-minded (or just plain idiotic) to actually believe the small percentage of fanatics who post on college football forums make up the majority of fans across the nation?

ITT: AU fans get upset about UGA fans making obvious low-hanging fruit jokes about AU while at the same time making similar statements about UGA.

Is this the term of the week or something? What in the frick would anyone possibly know about the "culture" of UGA football outside of the players and staff that are actually involved with it? It's as baseless as me saying that the "culture" of Auburn is to cheat, spend, and scrape the bottom of the barrel for troubled kids that can be used and disposed of. It's a cute sounding sweeping generalization, but that's all it is. It worries me that some folks actually buy in and believe in that made-up "culture" about a program (both fans and rivals).

ETA: I'm not saying don't nitpick and make fun of other programs (that's what we do), but you may need to step back and reassess things if you find yourself actually believing a lot of the junk that's out there.

Has it been mentioned yet whether or not he plays quarterback?

Maybe auburnphan will come around and this can turn into a DJ Pettway thread.

Yes, but fans are hypocritical by their nature. There's no point getting into pissing matches over it

You might want to look towards your own fans first as that is who it was directed towards to show his hypocrisy. Or is okay to use those assumptions on Auburn, but not your own program

I'm referring to all fans, UGA included. Some of our own fans actually believe that about our players and program (some even embrace it) and it's just wrong. A lot of assumptions are made about how college athletics must be run and how athletes must live their lives and there's simply no truth to the majority of it. By itself, that may be pretty innocent if not annoying. But I think fans are increasingly beginning to cross the line (a few Bama fans in particular are starting to run away with that particular spotlight). It's become a bit disconcerting to see how some of these interactions between players and fans in public and on twitter can turn menacing for the most asinine or downright incorrect reasons, all because assumptions are made about how things are or how they're supposed to be.

That all depends on where I place the cutoff between a person that appreciates college football and an actual CFB fan. Also, this is an informal message board, some leeway in language is typically understood, so "every single football fan" is typically understood to mean "an incredibly high percentage of those we would actually call a fan".

You'd be quite surprised how many fans of Oregon, etc are well acquainted with AU's scavenging ways. Also, I wasn't referring to just msg board posters, but if we were to narrow to just that, I'd expect that I'm correct in my assertion of the first thought being closer to "Auburn has a new QB" than "Mark Richt lost control".

That one wore out about the time you guys got Marshall. It helped that people finally realized the majority of our arrests are for things like "emerging from an alley", "not giving a middle name", "driving while black", "suspended license", "walking while black", "underage drinking", and other bullshite charges.

Auburn loc...[reads last 2 pages]...nevermind

Bama fans really can't make those types of jokes anyway after signing TFS and Pettway last cycle

Serious question for UGA fans. Isn't this the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened at UGA? Seems odd. Makes me wonder if there's something different about dorm security or the way campers are housed in Athens. Could just be coincidence though

It's the 2nd time with a recruit (the other being Deon Bonner who is now at UTk), 3rd time something has gotten stolen by a football player (that time being Sanford Seay, Nick Marshall, and Chris Sanders, all of whom are no longer on the team). I think it's just coincidence; bring enough kids from vastly different backgrounds through a dorm over the years and a few of them are bound to make bad choices.

Everyone should realize that we're discussing memes here and therefore nobody should be taking the joke of "AU recruiting out of the prison system" seriously just like they shouldn't take the "UGA players are all thugs" stuff seriously.

Perhaps some AU posters in here need to pay closer attention to when I'm using the sarcasm/"screwing with you" font.
