Tua's legit. Heard from people who watched at the Elite 11 Finals and the Opening that Tua was the most accurate QB at both events. Kid doesn't have an absolute cannon, but he can spin it 30 yards with ease and is pinpoint accurate. Deserved. Just wish Myles Brennan would get the bump he deserves as well. Same people that praised Tua said Brennan has the highest ceiling in the class. It's ridiculous he's 4 star on 247 and and a 3 star everywhere else. On the flip side, Hunter Johnson is insanely overrated. Heard he completely fell apart in Oregon. Kid looks like the prototype QB but might the most mentally weak kid around.

Tua looked legit at the Opening, but so did MVP Barnett a couple of years ago and he wasn't ready for big boy football.

But more than anything, I think the adjustment from Honolulu competition to SEC competition will be the biggest challenge for Tua.

Like west coast Barnett, look at UGA's Jacob Eason. The sorry competition in the state of Washington is now forcing him to take baby steps.

Have there really been many guys that have been successful out of those elite 11 camps? David Cornwell was on that thing too. Philip Sims, Jeff Driskel, and Kyle Allen just to name a few.

Sure this guy will stick if Hurt is the starter? If Hurt is as good as Bama fans are saying, Tua will be sitting a LONG time if he actually comes to Bama.

Da fuq? How is challenging for the starting job as a true freshman in the SEC "taking baby steps?" Regardless of how I feel about Greyson Lambert, he won 10 games last year and while a step down in talent definitely fits the mold of the "game manager", so taking the job from him would not exactly be a given. I think most of us expect it to happen at some point this season, but by game 1 it would be pretty uncommon for *any* freshman QB to steal the starting role from a returning 5th year senior.

I get that you wanted to make a point about west coast competition, you just failed to execute.

Yeah I didn't get that either seeing as West Coast QBs are typically more highly valued by the NFL over SEC guys.

Not an All-American immediately = baby steps, duh.

It will be interesting to watch if Jalen ends up starting, and plays really well.

would likely help with Tua if Jalen starts. If Hurts redshirts then, in theorty, Tua, Hurts, and Jones would all be freshmen competing for same job.

If Hurts plays now and plays well then he's likely a 3 and out kid. One of those years Tua is a HS SR, one he is redshirting, and the third year Tua is a RSFR. That would/could give Tua 3 years to be "the guy".

He is in line to start next week. Far from baby steps.
