Was a solid 4* out of HS (Dallas). Played 4 years at Stanford. All purpose back with 33 catches last year alone.

Isn’t his dad Emmitt Smith?

Correct. His daughter went to A&M and played soccer a few years back. I think he likes it here.

What a depressing change of scenery.

But I bet they can find a way to fit him in. I thought he looked good but Stanford has had a terrible supporting cast for some time.

He's going to miss the cool nights and the It's-Its.

Stanford tried to make Barry Sanders JR work out a few years back and that didn't work out either.

Barry Sanders Jr. played behind Christian McCaffrey and graduated from Stanford, and then played at his dad’s alma mater.

I would say the kid did a great job of taking care of his opportunities and it worked out okay.

The probability of a Stanford graduate finding success far exceeds that of a college football athlete.

No slam on either. Both sets of parents valued a Stanford education, and while I was hopeful both scatbacks would be superstars at Stanford, neither had the supporting cast that McCaffrey (or all the backs from Harbaugh's first year to up until McCaffrey.)

Sanders Jr. did okay at Okie State. I think there is a solid chance that Smith will do even better at A&M. Or at least I'm rooting for him.

His older sister went to A&M. The family likes College Station and used to be a frequent fixture at A&M football games when the daughter was in college. So, I doubt EJ is in for a big shock. It was between A&M and Stanford when he was choosing where to commit to in high school according to my nephew who went to school with EJ.

Good points.

Well if know this much, if any of my kids had a scholarship chance at Stanford, I am telling each of them to not bother waiting around for an A&M or UT acceptance letter. See ya in Cali son....

A Stanford Bachelor's Degree, two years playing Aggie football, and a TAMU Master's Degree will set him up nicely for a non-football career in this state.

He graduated from Stanford already. He has 2 years of eligibility left to work on his Master's Degree at TAMU.
