Winston is not going to play baseball. He is, at best, a 3rd round prospect.

VERY wishful thinking, unless he sucks his senior year o nthe diamond, he has the chance to be a 1st/2nd rounder, and what he says now means absolutely nothing :ZachLee

Actually Alabama is a heavy favorite to land four of those listed. Although they are not all consensus five stars. If the OP had not insinuated as such, you wouldn't be so adamant that Alabama wouldn't get them.

Per Rivals...

Eddie Goldman *****
Jameis Winston *****
Cyrus Jones ****
Jordan Jenkins ****

This is how I expect Alabama to end the 2012 class. 28 signed total...

Oh really:

Take a look at the special teams players. But then again, I guess Rivals could be using Scout's rankings to select their All-American Team.

Winston will sign with Bama and will only go baseball for first round money.

Mark it down.

You are the only, and I mean ONLY, guy on the internet that is convinced Winston is going the baseball route. No scouting service agrees with you, but I guess you're the expert.

I bet that has more to do with the fact that you don't want to see Alabama end up with Winston as opposed to where you really think he is going to be drafted.

why would he go to Alabama over Florida State

Ask him. It isn't just me that is saying he might flip.

Likely.

Goldman nobody knows what's going on with him

Quite a few trusted insiders believe we lead.. currently at least. Also, the FL reporter who was spot on about Cyrus switching to Alabama is saying Alabama leads for Goldman. (totally TIFWIW, of course) But there is enough out there to say there is a very good chance Alabama is currently his leader.

you lead for Jenkins and Jones, and Jones isn't really a 5-star

I know he isn't.. so what? we still lead for him.

My god, didn't know I was coming head strong into a Bama circle-jerk thread.

There isn't a single person out there who knows what Goldman will do. The kid has said nothing.

the new MLB agreement does not stop teams from offering 1st round money to guys drafted in the 3rd round.

Or they could have made a mistake. Because his profile has him as a 4*, and they aren't updating rankings for another month

And there is not a single person out there saying Winston will go the MLB route, yet you post it in every thread Winston's name is mentioned. Why is that?

Alabama is in the final two for Goldman, and landing Cyrus Jones will help tremendously with him. Along with the Kouandjio brothers, there would be a big contingent from the Baltimore/D.C. area pushing him to Alabama. Regardless, you must not realize what "favorite" means. Alabama could very well miss on all four of those I listed, but carry on with your absolutes and apparent butthurt in this thread.

So a little foreshadowing is in effect, huh?

Did Gunner Kiel? Yet somehow all you guys believed LSU was his leader, and guess what? LSU was! So LSU can be someone's leader without the kid speaking up, but not Bama? got it.
There are "sources" close to the Goldman situation, just like there were to the Kiel situation.

Yeah, it kinda does, seeing as it is a new slotted system just like the NFL and NBA.

Once again, myself and many others highly doubt he even makes it to college, MLB will come alling, money thrown his way, things change. Bama insiders are hearing what they want to hear saying he isn't a great MLB prospect when he really is. Him and Alford are both unlikely to make it to college, if Winston does, he would be dumb to go to Alabama over FSU considering ACC rules allowing minor league players to play football.

Quite a few trusted insiders believe we lead..

And they are merely guessing and don't know anything. Goldman has said NOTHING to make anyone truly believe anyone leads for him. There hasn't been a more tight to the vest recruit than him this year. Nobody knows where he is truly leaning.

quote:

I know he isn't.. so what? we still lead for him

The thread is supposedly about 5-star recruits, if you didn't notice.

Would be my line of thinking as well. Who cares about stars outside of Tyler Bray?

So what you're insinuating is that since they updated the rankings two weeks ago, he has shown enough during a period where is isn't playing football to move 80 spots and gain a star? Alright man, continue with your fairy tales...

From what I've read, teams can do it but they are just penalized for doing it, with fines and giving up other draft picks. Maybe I'm mistaken.
