Is the kid going to be cleared? Thought I read the NCAA was investigating his recruitment etc.

Looks like he will get clearance. May have to sit out a few games.

Thomas Bryant looked like the best player in that tournament.

They weren't investigating Skal's recruitment. It had to do with his school that his handler created. In Sandy Bell we trust.

Skal wasn't at the McD's game. Draft express has moved him to #1 overall and a CBS reporter on Parrish's radio show in Memphis says Skal would compete with Towns and Okafor for #1 in this class.

Via Draftexpress:
quote:

The scrimmage again gave NBA talent evaluators a chance to see the tremendous talent of Skal Labisserie, who quickly separated himself from the pack early in the week and just continues to put distance between himself and any other prospect on the World or US team. Today was the day that Labisserie showed off his shooting stroke, as he made a number of beautiful long-range jumpers with absolutely no hesitation and outstanding touch. He also attacked the rim when given the opportunity to, blowing by his defender in one instance and throwing the ball down with his (weaker) left hand, which was somewhat of a surprise. He also threw up a very smooth-looking floater from just inside the free throw line that seemingly hung in the air for a good ten seconds before finally dropping with incredibly soft touch.

His defense was also on display as part of the World Team's switching pick and roll defense, as he showed no problem moving his feet and staying in front of much smaller players and was even able to recover and make some impressive plays at the rim at times as well. “He has no idea how good he can be” was the line you heard repeated the most by NBA scouts, as while he's far from a finished product in terms of his body and skill-level, he most certainly has a natural feel for executing advanced plays combined with tremendous physical tools that gets NBA executives extremely excited.

Skal hasn't played organized basketball in 2 seasons, so he sort of gets overlooked a lot.

Sorry Cal is horrible at developing players, but hey at least you have the fact he is the best recruiter in basketball by a wide margin.

This was and is still by far one of the dumbest things I have ever read on this site.

Yeah this is key. Skal wasn't at McD because of his high school situation.

You should've read the thread he started. And how quickly it got disproven even when he tried to use advanced stats as his basis.

This.

I think it's pretty clear from just watching the highlights that Skal is already better and more polished which is surprising because he hasn't played organized basketball long. I see him being an Anthony Davis-esque player with a better offensive game.
