Recruiting Board Mock draft.

Not sure how many of y'all venture over to the LSU recruiting board but we've been participating in a mock draft for the last 6 years by "drafting" eligible players from that specific year/class. The purpose of this is to field a team (11 offensive and 11 defensive players) and to see how your "team" progresses throughout their college, and possibly NFL, careers.
There is no scoring system, or no money goes to the winner. It's basically a dick measuring contest to say that you can spot talent better than the other participants. Last year we had two spots open and we filled them with posters whose favorite team wasn't LSU. I enjoyed having their different input in discussions and drafting that I'd like to try that again this year for our open spots.
I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of posters, but as of now we have 4 open spots. Most of the drafters are LSU fans, but we have a Washington fan, an UGA, an Auburn, and VerlanderBeast, who I guess is a Michigan fan.
Email me if you're interested in joining our draft. It takes a few weeks although last year we finished it in less than a month. It'll be 25 teams, drafting 28 eligible recruits, so you'll have to go outside of the Top 300 to get your roster filled.
I've stated before that one of my favorite things about this draft is finding players that are not your typical 4-5 stars and seeing them rise to stardom. It happens every year. Add to that, people who have a love for college football, it broadens your knowledge outside of your favorite team due to you following specific players for other teams.

So is it like a 4-5 year running thing? I mean, some of these kids outside of the Top 300 many not see the field for years.

TS - Yeah, essentially. I did it for the first time last year. Some of the peeps had been doing it for multiple seasons so they've had busts and steals that you can look back on. Like for me, I didn't have a ton of big contributors as freshmen, but several saw the field and had some success. Also, had a player who was medically prevented from continuing to play football due to pre-existing heart condition, so just kind of interesting to follow and see trends to me. I think given your level of commitment to recruiting you'd have fun!

Yes.... kind of sorta. Again, we really don't combine each class as of now, so it's just a matter of following your guys, and others you may have missed or wanted during the draft, and seeing how their career goes. You end up getting some really cool stories and also realize how many of these kids fizzle out, whether it be because they just aren't that good or are a tPOS, ruining chance after chance.
For example, I had a few guys get drafted last year, two of which went in the first round. This year I may have three guys go in the first round. One of those guys , Takkarist McKinley DE from UCLA, has a pretty cool story of how he ended up being a potential 1st rounder.
