Over recent months and especially recent weeks, Arkansas has picked up a lot of momentum with him. He’s expected to be in Fayetteville this weekend, and he just picked up two crystal ball predictions from usually reliable hog reporters. I see that he was committed to LSU for almost a year. Tigers, do you have any insight on him? Why didn’t he stay committed? Also, he reports offers from nearly half the SEC. Can any other fans shed some light on him or how actively they’re recruiting him? I’ll update this thread title if he commits to Arkansas or elsewhere. TIA.

It's looking like a good chance of getting Turner, Eason, and McDonald(if we offer) all committed this weekend. Morris is trying to take over Memphis.

I’d pump the brakes on Eason and McDonald. There are other contenders heavily in the mix for Eason, and McDonald is committed to another SEC school while not having an offer from Arkansas yet. That would be frickin awesome if you were right though.

I'm just going off what the Arkansas recruiting guys are saying. They Eason, French, and McDonald have been saying for a long time that they wanted to play together in college, nobody offered all 3 though so we will see what happens if we offer McDonald.

I don’t want to sound high and mighty, but I’m also not going to lie to you. Everything points to him having been “processed” as Bama fans like to say, from the class. I personally still think he is a good player and would be a good pick up for y’all.

But as far as the LSU side, it appears we told him to walk.

Honestly we landed some guys that were just higher on the board. Right now we have 3 WRs committed that are in the top 40. Turner seemed like a good prospect to me imo

That’s a hell of a receiver class, congrats. I’ll gladly take a player LSU squeezed out in this case. Turner is a unanimous top 250 player in the country four star that reports around seven SEC offers.

He’s a good player. At first I didn’t understand it when we dropped him. Then I realized just how beefy our WR class is.

Two more CBs from an Ole Miss and LSU guy just came in for Turner to Arkansas.

I just looked at his decommit thread, and it appears a lot of LSU fans didn’t either.

A lot of angry tigers here

No, French or Eason has expressed that, can’t remember which one of the two.

The other and McDonald have made it clear they won’t let the others impact their decision.

Yea. Sorry I should have been more clear. Me and other LSU fans originally were kind of incredulous about us dropping him, but unless I’m completely remembering order of events incorrectly, we had no idea about Burton or Jarrett at that point. If you read the thread it says Boutte was our #1 receiver at the time of Turner’s decommit. Clearly the coaching staff had a pretty good read on at least 1 of Burton or Jarrett enough at that point to make the move. It’s a cuttthroat business sometimes. Like I said, he’s a good player and if it was any other year he would have made it in the class. We just happened to have an insane WR class this time around.

The one issue Tennessee fans seem to have with Turner and why some teams may have backed off is the same they said about Trey Knox last year - too slow. Morris loves bigger receivers though and I've read where he could play TE, DB or even LB. I think Knox has dropped about 10 pounds from where he was in high school.

Would take him and figure the rest out later. That would give us what, five 4* WRs that we've landed in the past two classes? Six if you include Hudson Henry as a TE. Pretty impressive given where the program is currently at IMO. Stepp is a very good recruiter. Getting a lot of players from Memphis too.

Tennessee wanted Knox, he went on an official there the week before he committed to us, he just liked us better. Turner has never showed an ounce of interest in Tennessee, seems like hes been set on going out of state, he didn't even put Tennessee in his top 5.

Our WR corps will be the best in the country next year if we get him. We will have Woods, Knox, Nash, TQ, Turner, and Burks with Henry at TE. That's insane.

We (potentially) have 3 - 5* WR already committed in Boutte, Jarrett, and Burton.

Sean Tuohy Jr owns Memphis. Gonna have to find a way to keep that guy on staff going forward, if we start winning.

Where would SJ go? I don't see him going to Ole Miss right now. And Morris gave him an opportunity at SMU.
