Per Rivals and 247 the staff prefers Williams.

Rivals article says he and his family will try to be at UT tomorrow to visit.

LSU offering as a LB
probably, we want him as an ATH, word is he wants to be a RB all the way.

Scott or Williams?
Williams. Jason Howell just said he thinks if Williams commits to UT, LSU won't be able to flip him.

Saw on LSUs 247 the fan base seems pretty divided on him. Seems like subtley so do a few in this thread. Looks like everyone would love to keep him instate but some feel like he's more of a luxury then others. Could be completely wrong, just feels like the vibe to me.

That's a good way to put it.
I believe his offer is as a RB, but Coach Wilson wants him to keep an open mind to possibly playing another position (LB) if he gets on campus and carries for him are hard to come by. (Fournette)
That has his father worried I believe and understandably so if his son is set on playing RB no matter what. The way the LSU 247 guys put it, LSU will have more meetings, etc. about how they see him fitting in. That will seal the deal one way or the other then. (Meaning, the Williams family will feel better about it or they won't and he'll likely go to Tennessee.)

Understandable from a coaching and parents perspective. We got our first elite back in years with Hurd so I wouldnt be discouraged if Williams stays home. Kids a really solid back, LFs just that good that he might get passed up on or asked to play another position.

One other note, Florida will get a visit in January as well. Still, nothing set with LSU as of now but we will see how that plays out over the next eight weeks. One thing is for sure, LSU is not guaranteed a visit at all at this point.

Not saying they're wrong, but that's the reason given 9/10 times. Maybe he just doesn't care about going to a bottom feeder team.

Has LSU officially offered him at RB? Or just offered in general?
We offered as a ATH, and really would like to see him at OLB rather than RB. Auburn was in the mix early, felt the same way...
Looks like the Vols are in a good spot here...

It also seems that our increased recruitment of other options at RB (ie. Dalvin Cook) is a sign that LSU is looking to move on.
Can't imagine how that would make me feel if a team is saying they want me to keep an "open mind" while other kids NOT named LF are still being recruited at my position.
ETA - LSU offered Dalvin Cook a long time ago, but is starting to heat up his recruitment.
