I agree with this. To be honest, he looked more impressive on film his junior year than his senior season. Also, there is not too much difference from him his senior season at this weight then some of the other top RB propects. Dalvin Cook has looked every bit as good IMO.

Thank you. Holy shite. An Alabama fan brings the honesty to the thread.
It's way too early to call him the next anything. While not impossible, that type of anointing certainly doesn't always work out.

He's the GOAT that's what.
In all reality, for me it's his combination of size, lateral quickness and speed. Every once in a while you see a big guy who can gallop at top end (think Alley Broussard before he got the fat). Every once in a while you see a big guy with quick feet (think Jerome Bettis).
Fournette has all three. He's got Hill's quickness left to right and Gurley's top-end speed. He should be a great one.

Yea I think he'll be just a step below Hill in terms of all-time LSU greats.

If you watch TJ Yeldon's senior film and Leonard Fournette's senior film, you can't tell me who the better back is.
Fournette is so hyped because he's been just about the same size and skill since he was a freshman in high school. This kid was dominant as a freshman.
I think he's a great back but he isn't going to live up to what LSU fans are expecting of him. Anything short of a heisman and NC is going to be falling short for the kid unfortunately.

Like the poster said he played some of the top competition in the State and dude has been a legend since 9th Grade. I remember my dad went to a game in 2010 and it was St.Aug against 35 and he said man they have a running back that was unstoppable. In other words he was Dylan Moses be back than.

Thats legit, I didnt realize that he'd been dominating like that since 9th grade.

I know LSU fans are overly excited about LF but if you really need your questions about his skills answered please Google Leonard Fournette makes guys miss touch football. The kid takes a fricking handoff up the middle at the Oregon (I think) camp and makes 4 people miss for a TD from 15yds out. It's ridiculous.

AP is AP....I'd prefer to think that he will just be LF and move those chains up the field over and over...
La'el Collins coming back will be a great help.
He will create his own legacy whatever that will be. All I know is I would rather have him than have the other team have him hands down.

This. The AP comparison didn't originate here. Also, writers and scouts said he could start for the saints right now. He has crazy potential but it's hard to predict things like this..

He was used A LOT less his sr year. And played receiver. He was the number 1 target vs everyone he played in great competition and still balled out.like the UA game, it's not like he had a bunch of touches.

He struggled a bit with handoffs in the UA game but that is not an indication to me whatsoever
The last RB after AD to rush for over 100 in the Army AA Game was Bama's soon to transfer RB Dee Hart

Yea he's the Anthony Johnson of RBs. People knew about him in middle school.
Hopefully he translates to the next level better than the Freak.

He better, because if he doesn't LSU will get the stink of busting the kid with this much hype.

J.t. Curtis said he was the best high school player he has ever coached against . But what does he know?
Posted on 1/15/14 at 6:51 am to 8miles
Are you implying J.T.knows more about LF than these Gumps do?????????
Posted on 1/15/14 at 6:53 am to FightinTiga
Of course not. I value the gump's honest opinion.

Peyton Manning is as New Orleans as red beans and rice on Mondays and Fat Tuesdays. The proud native son, who had to move to Denver because of work, adores his hometown and its greatest assets –- food, music, culture and football prospects.
Manning himself is the greatest football product to ever come out of New Orleans, the city that annually churns out NFL studs. But Peyton himself can attest that Leonard Fournette of St. Augustine is prodigious. Manning got a text this fall from his brother Cooper, who told the Broncos quarterback to turn on ESPN to see greatness.
“It was big game between St. Augustine and John Curtis, who have always been powerhouses in New Orleans,” Manning said. “So I was home on a Friday night, turned the game on and he’s an impressive linebacker –- and, oh by the way, he’s also the top-rated running back, as well. He’s some kind of athlete. And I haven’t had a chance to meet him, but watching the game that he had against John Curtis, one of the best programs in the country, that kind of told me everything I needed to know about how good of a player he is”
Fournette ran for 255 yards that night. It’s arguable he’s the best prospect out of New Orleans since Peyton Manning himself. ESPN asked the question if he was the next Adrian Peterson. The guy is considering LSU and Alabama. Lil Wayne tweeted “Leonard Fournette is the truth!”
After Fournette’s junior season, he won the Gatorade Louisiana Football Player of the Year in 2012 — the only junior ever to earn the honor. My good buddy Jeff Duncan, the columnist for NOLA.com, wrote this big piece on Fournette, pointing out that he won the state’s 100-meter dash title in a time of 10.68 seconds. And Duncan also included this tidbit:
Tom Luginbill is a former college quarterback who makes his living evaluating high school football stars for ESPN. In his tenure as ESPN’s national recruiting director, Luginbill and staff have awarded three players with grades as high 95 on their 1-100 scale: Da’Quan Bowers and Julio Jones in 2008; and Jadaveon Clowney in 2010.
