The last 2-3 classes Tennessee has produced put it squarely on top of the second tier. Obviously not on the FL, GA, TX, LA level. But better than the rest.

Florida
Georgia
Texas
Louisiana
Texas puts out too many soft players. In most instances I would rather have a Georgia or Louisiana kid.

Don't think TN is better than AL

Arkansas is towards the bottom just because it lacks depth. We don't have very many D1 players in a normal year (these next two classes are loaded though).
However the ones we do have mostly turn out to be studs. Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis, Matt Jones, Greg Childs, Jarius Wright, DeAngelo Williams, DJ Williams, Joe Adams, Hunter Henry, Jamaal Anderson, etc.
South Arkansas has a lot of underrated guys. Most of our better teams are filled with Arkansas kids. But we need to rely on Texas, and recently Florida, for a lot of our recruiting.

You call it soft. I call it skill positions. Texas does work at QB like no other. Check the NFL rosters if you don't believe me.

You're right. Looking at the last few classes on 247, TN should fall right behind AL in the second tier. MS and SC after that (SC has produced some high quality guys but not a lot of depth)

SC's population is about that of the city of Atlanta. SC rivals if not surpasses LA in per-capita D1 prep FB prospects IMO....

In order by state (per capita):
1) Auburn (State formerly known as Georgia)
2) Florida
3) Louisiana/Texas
4) Mississippi

You nailed it.
Mississippi would be higher if more of their kids could qualify.

Tennessee has been on the upswing for about 5 years. The population boom in middle TN has been a major cause. The talent is only gonna get better. As much time as Butch has spent in the mid state, I think he realizes this is a very good thing for him.

Florida puts out just as good, if not better skill players. Texas puts out better QB's.
Florida talent on DL, LB, and DB is way better than Texas IMO.

Ridiculous players from both Texas and Florida.
No reason at all to argue either side of the coin.

If you extrapolated Fla, Ga & La numbers to match Texas population you'd have approximately...
Texas........44-4star+.....237-3star+...
Florida......65-4star+.....350-3star+...
Georgia......75-4star+.....375-3star+...
Louisianna...70-4star+.....450-3star+...
