Apparently his girlfriend has tweeted that if he doesn't pick the cats, she will not go to prom with him, and there will be no twerking. God I hate that I know that.

Kentucky's best years were actually after Bryant left.

Best of luck to the kid wherever he goes. Reminds me a little of basketball recruit Eric Bledsoe. There was a pull to the in-state team, but UK was the better decision for him in terms of life-long decision. I think the same is true with Harris. Tons of pull - and rightly so - to stay home.

However, three years from right now he could be making another announcement about going to the NFL, regardless of which team he chooses. If he goes to UK, he'll be the workhorse and will go to the NFL with 30-50% more carries on him than if he goes to Bama.

Also helps Bama's case that every starting RB under Saban has been taken within first 3 rounds of NFL draft. Coffee, Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, and likely Yeldon, too. That type of football success at the kids position is like saying every starting PG for Cal gets drafted.

Not necessarily. UK has seven very, very solid RBs right now. He'll get more carries and get carries from day one, but not 50% more.

Kentucky also relies less on the run in the first place.

Spread-to-pass offenses like UK runs are known for their workhorse backs while Alabama is known (especially in NFL circles) for protecting RBs prior to the NFL.

Yup.

God you're awful. This doesn't even make sense as a response to what I said.

I feel bad for UK. They need a guy like harris. Bama always gets guys like harris. He would be a huge deal at one place, and an average Joe at the other.

Man, someone should tell him that.

Eta: that was sarcastic as shite but I really do wish some independent third party would fricking explain that to this kid.

said 30-50% more, not just 50%. That said, my assumption was wrong. Just looking at UK and Bama rushing the past 2 years here are some stats to tell the story.

2014
UK:
* QB led team in carries
* top 3 RBs had b/t 70-74 carries on the season and 323-486 yards
* Top RB had 5 TDs
* Top RB represented 17% of all carries

Bama:
* Top 2 backs with 172-194 carries
* top 2 backs with 11 TDs each
* top 2 backs with 34% & 30% of carries, respectively (Drake injury impacted Bama RB rotation in 2014)

Looked at it for 2013 also. Basically, he may get more carries at Bama after all unless UK changes their O. He'll split time at Bama, still get more carries, more yards, more TDs, and likelihood of championship is higher.

At UK he'll still likely lead team in carries, yards, and TDs, but be less of a focus of the O as running is less focus in their O. He'll be local hero.

Yea but Kentucky just got a new OC. The pass will be even more of a point of focus of the offense then it has been in the past few years. DH won't lead the team in TD's this year if he goes to UK.

The ideaof being a "local hero" is kind of undervalued. Basically, even if he shreds both knees before he ever goes to the NFL, he will be living pretty high on the hog in Kentucky as the result of his decision to stick around. I realize Bama likely takes care of their players, but he'd be sort of alone at the forefront of people's minds here. That's a significant difference.

One hour til Damien Harris decision. Could be some movement in UK's direction recently. Still a very tough call.

I wonder how much Kiffin will impact his decision. Kiffin runs an offensive machine but we all know what Saban tells him.

UK players seem pretty darn confident he'll pick UK. Hmmmm.
