I highly doubt Franks will overtake Eason for the top QB spot, but it's looking like he will be the #2 overall.

Hmm...
Just read this note:
"247Sports named Georgia quarterback commit Jacob Eason the top performer of day one, and also tabbed Ole Miss commit Shea Patterson as the favorite to win the competition."

All services will have all sorts of different lists. In the end the Elite 11 is not an indicator of success at all really.
Here's the final rankings of the Elite 11 (from the E11 itself) in 2011:
co-MVP Jameis Winston
co-MVP Tanner Mangum
co-MVP Neal Burcham
4.) Jeff Lindquist
5.) Chad Voytik
6.) Zach Kline
7.) Shane Dillon
8.) Chad Kelly
9.) Zeke Pike
10.) Bart Houston
11.) Austin Appleby

There's almost no question Patterson is one of the most polished QBs in this class but franks has future first round pick all over him. He may not make an impact until his redshirt sophomore year but once he gets the job he will dominate

Franks is the man. And he's only scratching the surface of what he will be
Between Harris and Franks, Cameron has all the tools he could possibly have to work with and mold. Guess we'll see how good of a qb coach he really is

USA Today on Franks:
quote:
2. Franks was impressive.
Though he threw a few too-high passes, Franks was one of the more impressive passers during Tuesday’s workout. His throws all had zip and he did a good job of clicking off his reads before finding the most open receiver.
“It’s great to be able to compete with the best quarterbacks,” Franks said. “Iron sharpens iron. They’re getting better and I’m getting better at the same time.”
He’s considered the No. 5 quarterback overall and the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, but Franks also has the size at 6-5 and 220, to be a prototypical pro quarterback. That is provided he sticks with football as he’s also considering playing baseball at LSU.
