I agree that as the rules stand right now, they should be able to visit and do what they want.

I just wish that recruitment was simply a senior year thing and commitments couldn't be made till after the season to ensure that kids had the time to visit other schools without losing their spots.

Commitments are nothing mroe than naming leaders now. They aren't truly committed to a school

Allot of these guys need to remember what a commitment is. I don't think taking a visit to another school is disloyal or wrong, these kids are making the biggest decision of their life, but some of these guys are committed to a school and act like everything is wide open for their services.

I hate it he ended up trouble, cause Eddie Williams handled his recruitment my favorite of everyone recently. Picked early, didn't make a big production of out of it and you never once heard any rumors indicating he wasn't 100% committed. No social media attention whoring or anything.

A verbal commitment just gives coaches a rough numbers estimate and fans something to chew on during the offseason. Absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

It's more than that. It also plays into recruiting strategy. "Hey Johnny McWideout, we just got a commitment Cannon O'Quarterback, the four star guy. Don't you want to be on a team with him?"

But yeah, there's nothing formal or official about them, but they aren't as insignificant as you make them out to be.
