merlins noel can dunk the frick out of a basketball. i heard that's how he lost robert nkemdiche. he challenged him to a 1 on 1 and crossed him the frick up and posterized him. naturally he dropped us after that.

Let me guess Howard Cosell sports or Jimmy the Greek's rating system.

System aside, when people say it's the highest rated class OM has ever had, that's simply not true. Also, it's tough to say that the recruiting classes of the late 1950's that were winning SEC titles weren't great.

I'll easily concede that it's the best class in the modern era.

Yes it is - there are plenty of examples of awesome classes amounting to nothing and average classes turning out to be great.

Shoot UT's '07 class has like 6 five stars or something ridiculous - only 1 ever did anything here in Eric Berry. '09 class was equally as horrible.

At this point it's butch, I wasn't that impressed with freeze last year when u consider he had some kind if ties to the big fish he landed. RN was handed to him on a platter bc of his brother and iirc he had some sort of prior ties to treadwell and tunsil.

Butch's class is solid top to bottom not just top heavy.

It is a little early though so it could change if Hugh reels in some big ones again.

To this point, Freeze has been more impressive. It's unfair to judge Butch, good or bad, until NSD.

I said "highest rated" not "awesome." The only thing we can go by with this class is how highly it was rated. These guys haven't played a down of NCAA football yet. You're right that the ratings system isn't an exact science, but it's all we have to go on right now for this class. So if people are going to say it's the "best ever" what they're really saying is that it's the "most highly rated ever," which simply isn't true.

I wish Butch had a better supporting staff recruiting wise.. Feels like he's taking the lead on a good majority of these kids - Thigpen and Martinez is all he really has... And well all Martinez has shown to do well is recruit up to this point.

There weren't any ties to Tunsil, but you're right about everything else.

And so what? IDGAF how he got in good with these guys.

Well before this thread hits the shitters, Congrats OM on the success on the trail. It's gonna take more then 1 cycle to determine if they're consistent or not which is all that matters
