wow! I hope you are right. I know we have 3 that can back-count for last year, plus a 4th due to AD's passing. That would be 29. Where are you getting the extra scholly from? Not doubting you, btw, just curious.

I would think carswell would only count towards the 85 since he signed and enrolled in last years class. I may be wrong, but how would he be able to count towards tge 25 now?

He wouldn't count towards the 25 this year. His spot would be given to an EE and it would only count towards the 85.

That sitll wouldn't allow Bama to sign 30 this year, unless i'm looking at this wrong. You can only count back scholarships that didn't sign with you (and the unfortunate situation with the man who died). Therefore, Bama would still be able to only sign 29 and count back 4, even though sombody will be taking Carswell's scholarhsip in the 85 limit.

Regardless, Bama signing 29 is ludicrous. How do they keep finding scholarship space

I think Bama feels really good about Dixon, Winston, Goldman, Jones, and Jenkins. If that's true, then that leaves 2 spots for 8 kids to battle over.

I've heard that D. Belue has already finished his classes and sent paperwork to Alabama and to the NCAA Clearinghouse.

This makes no sense.

He counts in the 25 of his recruiting class.

He doesn't magically disappear just because he gets processed two years after enrollling.

Its 1 year, and thats part of the loophole of using his spot as an EE for the next class.

Only signed 22 last year. One of those passed away. Had 3 leave early last year. Will have at least 3 leave early this year.

Also, I am pretty sure that the Love brothers pay their own way so those boys aren't counting against teh 85 after their 1st year (if a walkon was recruited then he counts against the 85 as a FR).

I don't believe that is how it works. You can only count back if you signed under the 25 limit. Just because the player decides to transfer after a year, does not mean you open up a spot in the 25 limit.

Yea, I'm pretty sure the Love brothers do as well. I know their family decently well. I know how Bama does it, I just can't wait for the day Auburn has a full roster again. Its going to be so refreshing.

This is why only BAMA and the NCAA knows who is on scholarship any given year. BAMA only releases it to NCAA and no one else needs to know.

Here's a UGA Rivals article on Holsey...

What's on Holsey's mind?

quote:

Holsey committed to the Tigers early in the process, but is now starting to realize that it may not have been for the best of reasons.

"I committed early because I was tired of the process and wanted to get it out of the way," he said. "I wanted to be done with recruiting so I could focus on the season."

quote:

According to Holsey, two specific programs have come after him the hardest.

"Georgia and Alabama contact me the most," he said. "Coach (Rodney) Garner contacts me from Georgia, and I know him well, and Coach (Kirby) Smart talks to my defensive backs coach and another coach contacts me."

When asked if he was ready to open things up, Holsey made it clear that he didn't want to comment, but he did reveal his intention to take some visits.

"I am trying to get some visits planned right now," he said. "I know I'll take a few, but I'm not sure to who or when I will take them."

If Alabama gets Travell Dixon tomorrow (which is when he's supposed to announce) I don't see them taking Holsey, too. He'll be hard enough to flip as is, with Dixon on board I don't think it would happen.

plus, just because he's getting phone calls doesn't really mean much. coaches follow through with a lot of recruits just in case, but that doesn't mean they're trying to flip him, at the moment at least.

Yep, sounds like he is ready to fly.
