We're moving up

We won't sniff the Top 10, but I'll take not being in the 30s anymore

There's a decent correlation between pre- and post-college rating, though. I.e., higher stars are more likely to be drafted higher.

I've seen some stats that speak to the opposite, but can't for the life of me find the most recent link (don't feel like going back through my post history). Could have been less about draft position and more about draft volume though :/

I think there is more to be said about fit in system, evaluation, and development, but the there is nothing terribly "wrong" with the rating system either, other than maybe the "bump" that recruits get *after* they get big time offers and/or make commitments to "elite" programs... I always felt that was a bit like hindsight. "Oops, we should have ranked him higher, he's going to < insert school >!"

Starting?

Ok, I'll let you slide since you guys are still new to the SEC and all.

You're probably talking about the stat that shows there are as many if not more 2 and 3 stars in the NFL than 4 and 5, but it completely ignores the fact that there are far more 2 and 3 stars than 4 and 5 stars each year. If you did it by percentage it shows 4 and 5 star guys have a much greater chance of succeeding and making it to the league.

Bama has won 4 of the last 7 NC and has had like 4 or 5 consecutive #1 recruiting "championships". Suggest, recruiting at a level that high produces success.

Sure, that is a major factor but there is also the fact that Alabama has the best coach in college football.

These recruiting classes are why it's so incredibly stupid that halfway through playing the SEC teams on a team's schedule people on here blast away with the criticism "You haven't played anyone any good yet!".

But you got caught giving improper benefits to a student-athlete...

Tunsil did that shite on his own. His punishment was being held out for seven games last fall. He hurt the team, but he did it by himself. It wasn't something the school set up.

7) Alabama

I haven't been following recruiting too much this year. Why is Bama #7? Is it that Saban didn't have as many schollies available to give out this year? Or is it because a lot of recruits are not expected to commit until the last minute?

8) Georgia

Not much improvement by Smart so far. I guess competing for the natty this year set back his recruiting efforts.
