I first saw Tuttle in the spring of 2012 right after his freshman year. Jason Pughe of XoS Digital told me I had to travel up to see what he called “the best guy regardless of age in the Carolinas” right now.
After I left that day I was in full agreement. Tuttle’s first clip is intercepting a throwback screen with one hand and taking it 25 yards to the house. How many defensive tackles have you seen do that...ever?
Everyone soon lined up with offers.
Alabama, led by then defensive line coach Chris Rumph, was in on him first. North Carolina offered right away. Clemson, where his uncle, Perry Tuttle, from the famous Sports Illustrated cover when he helped the Tigers win the 1981 National Championship as a wide receiver, soon offered as well.
So did Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia, South Carolina and everyone else in America.
North Carolina led from last summer all the way to this summer. Then some trips to Knoxville this summer turned the tide for the Volunteers. His rapport with the coaching staff, their need at the vital spot and Tuttle liking the atmosphere at Tennessee put the Volunteers over the top.
Shy is just that, shy, off the field. Quiet. A man of few words. On the field, he turns into King Kong. Mean, aggressive and explosive.
Line him up next to five-star monster Kahlil McKenzie and that’s what wins big-time in the SEC. That’s what separates the contenders to the pretenders: who has the elite level defensive linemen and who doesn’t. Tennessee fans know that full well.
Tennessee what you landed today is one of America’s best. One of the best I’ve seen.
lol.

SEC cleaning up at D tackle.
Nice to see UT getting their collective shite together. We need a stronger East. It is good for everyone to have 3 or 4 teams capable of competing with the best in the West.
Good job Vols.

Today, Tennessee, you got yourself a legit all day WAR DADDY named Shy Tuttle.

We're just picking up speed now.

I won't lie, I am a little jelly...
Congrats on another great recruit.

Thank God we kept Richmond from y'all. With these Butch Jones crootin classes, y'all will be near the top of the East again in no time. If not, Jones is just an awful coach, because he sure will have the players to be good.

Congrats on another great recruit.
Y'all got our recruits last year - ya bastards. Seriously, nothing sends a scare through me like hearing the words "it's a battle between Auburn and Tennessee" when it comes to recruiting. I'd rather go up against any other SEC school. I don't know why but when it's between AUB-TENN I never feel good about our chances.
Oh and thanks Rocky

Butch Jones was a great hire and if you guys give him time, you are going to be really good.
Dooley needed at least 2 more years.

I'm not gonna lie, that d-line in 2-3 years should be scary fricking good if everything holds together. Great pickup.

Very nice Vols. Gonna be a sick. D line wise, this class is shaping up to be as good, if not better than Auburn's that had Lawson, Adams, and Daniels or the UF one from several years ago.

Va Tech's 247 mod just posted he's 95% sure Taylor is picking Tennessee tonight, and that Va Tech will continue to recruit him until signing day.

One of the 247 guys said this is the first time in 14 years a team has signed two ***** DTs in the same class. Not sure if it's true, but that's what he posted.

Mie Farrell just posted "confirmed from my best source yet, it's gonna be Tennessee for Taylor."
