Agree man. Kid was amazing. Had he gone any where and just played football he could have been in the NFL for a long time.
Seven years is a pretty long time. I don't think playing college basketball was holding him back at that point.

Hampton Roads has produced some helluva athletes to say the least. I lived there for a while and they talked about Bubba Chuck (Allen Iverson) like he was still playing high school at the present time.

He played like ten minutes a game as a freshman, didn't play as a sophomore, started as a junior. He was a good basketball player but not quite as good as people say now. No kind of NBA prospect.

Thanks for correcting me. I just remembered him playing a good bit.

He was probably overrated as a basketball prospect (due to football hype and winning the McD's slam dunk contest) but at the same time it's hard to know because he was splitting his time between two sports.

As to basketball affecting his football career, his participation in basketball at UNC certainly stunted his development as a QB. Who knows what happens if he focused on football, but he was absolutely an extraordinarily gifted talent.

You're kidding right? He had to focus on two sports. If he had focused on just one he had the talent to be an all american in it.
