Still not comparable to losing 2 All-SEC players for the entire year and there is no way to spin it. If the 5 star guys sitting at #2 aren't ready it's still your coaches fault. Bama fans can't use talent as an excuse for the Ole Miss game.

It was also Gus's fault that he didn't have his backups ready to take over for the injured starters. If you read this thread you would see that phan was trying to use injuries as an excuse for the season when every college football team has injuries. We were using examples of ones that plagued us. Kiffin said in an interview before the Sugar Bowl that he often found himself thinking up plays that we could run if Drake were healthy.

Except the backups at Auburn aren't 5*s and Gus is only in year 2. Bama fans are here trying to use loss of talent as an excuse when they have more than anyone without them and they only lost them for parts of games. It's as dumb as claiming they overachieved on tRant when they were preseason #2.
As for Drake, Bama fans had him behind Yeldon and Henry the greatest RB anyways.
Bama fans are just looking for an excuse to make themselves look better like always. Next they will come back with some random scores or their record to avoid the subject.
But either way this is an argument for tRant.

Our backup center was a RSFR 3* OG who redshirted last year due to a knee injury. But it's bama so there must be five stars everywhere.

Crucial parts of games, wouldn't you say?
How often do you think the backup center practices with the first string quarterback, especially shotgun snaps? Bozeman was used to snapping to a qb that is six inches taller than Sims. There is going to be a difference. We lost Kelly on our first road start with a quarterback who takes 90% of his snaps out of shotgun. You don't think that had an effect on his timing/performance? Center/QB exchange is harder than it looks. Just ask Nick Marshall and Reese Dismukes.

Everyone has high expectations for Alabama. That is nothing new. Yet, they did overachieve. If I showed you the A-Day film with a QB who looked like he couldn't complete a forward pass if his life depended on it, and told you that qb was going to lead this team to the playoffs, what would you have said?
On the other hand, you have a team that was picked by many to make it back to the title game and they just lost the Outback Bowl to an athletic director. If you want to criticize CNS coaching, make sure you also include criticisms of Gus. If I had told all of you Aubs who were crowing and saying "wait until next year" during the offseason that you'd lose the Outback Bowl this year, what would you have thought?

As many 5*s as Saban has if they don't have them everywhere it's his fault for signing so many at one position and none at others. Especially after 7/8 years.
Bama has no excuse. You're just doing what I said. Making excuses to cover for your coach and avoid admitting it's on him or that Bama the greatest ever like yall like to claim.
I never said Auburn didn't underachieve and yes it's on Gus.

I've been critical on the Bama board of some things Saban has done. That being said, the five star argument is worn out at this point.
Tyler Love was a 5* OL. Any idea where he might be right now?
Chance Warmack was a 3* OL. Any idea where he is right now?
All five star means is higher ceiling and usually higher floor. Most five stars don't face college competition on a week by week basis in high school. They may be lucky to directly face off with one or two D1 players all year. Then you expect them to go from that to facing off with the best players from another team who have more in game experience? Stars besides names means jack shite when you're thrust into a game you weren't expecting with very little experience. You can try to replicate that all you want in practice, but there is no substitution for in game experience.

I think bama was the right choice for Kendall really, he has an elite ceiling but is raw as a DB. If he came to A&M there would be a lot of pressure on him to produce right away. I hate it, but I think it's good for him in the long run. Also he has a super intense father that he probably will enjoy getting some space from.

What were the star ranking of the players you guys played this year that played woefully? Jackson, Sylve, Jones, etc. It might not be a talent problem

I disagree. I think he is polished and has elite speed. That's why he's a 5 star. He's a great athlete as well but isn't very very physical. That will be Alabama'd into him. I do agree he needed to be at Alabama.

Wow, didn't realize how woefully void of elite ranked talent (play on field reflected it though) Bama had this year playing at the db positions. None of those were rated as a cb/db coming out of high school. Needless to say the young guys we signed last year and are getting this year should be huge upgrades. Going from 1 highly rated player in Collins to almost every position to a 5* or high4* guy... Big evil grin

Jones played great this year.
Sylve didn't play awful, but he is very undersized. Fast as hell, but small.
Jackson was coming off of a serious injury, and seemed to had lost a step. Still played very physical, but got burned too many times.

Jackson definitely lost a step after his injury. He went from looking like our next first round cb draft pick, to what we saw this year. I hope the off-season gives him a chance to get back near 100%. Because that secondary was worst we've seen under Saban by far.

Lotta momentum for A&M here right now. Our guys are saying he likely flips after meeting with Sumlin/Chavis.

Someone lied to you. He was in Tuscaloosa saturday and yesterday with his parents walking around yelling roll tide.

Just wait. I tried to soften the blow by telling you this would happen when he first committed.
