Unless he completely shits the bed coaching, Howland is going to make State very nasty at basketball.

Definitely appears that way. Is Kegler heading to Starkville as well?

Probably good for Ole Miss too in the long run. They'll end up firing Kennedy and goin after a big time coach too.

Kegler, along with [link=(Carter)]https://247sports.com/Player/Tyson-Carter-84799[/link].

Would give us four 4*. Plus two front-court players. One player we are after is [link=(Heard)]https://247sports.com/Player/Schnider-Herard-35852[/link].

I doubt any big-name coach in going to come here to coach our basketball team, but I hope you're right. Schools like Alabama, Auburn and South Carolina got big-name coaches and they're not exactly powerhouses either.

Meh. State making the tournament won't hurt our chances as long as he continues to do what he has been doing. Kennedy can make it to the tournament and that's all Ole Miss fans want.

Bama's after Herard pretty heavily as well, although believe he's #3 on our big man list. I believe the pecking order is 1)Marques Bolden 2)Some guy from the East Coast whose name escapes me (top 40 player). 3)Herard. In fact, there's an audio clip someone got of Avery Johnson telling someone that that was the exact pecking order.

Johnson said the order is Bolden, Tony Bradley, and then Herard

Nice pickup MSU. Howland is a beast recruiter.

We won't be much count in 2015-16. Hopefully we'll be pretty solid in 2016-17 with a good freshman class, transfer Nick King from Memphis, and Ferguson and whoever else Avery signs in the 2016 class with a couple key seniors. By 2017-18, LOOK OUT! From that point forward, I expect us to have very good rosters annually with the way he should recruit. The SEC is taking a giant step forward, especially in the West.

Not a slight but I think if State starts to pull away in BB, Ole Miss will want something more too. Aren't yall upgrading BB facilities? If State can get a coach like Howland, OM can I think. We will see. I think a lot of SEC schools are wanting better out of BB.

Not one saying somewhere is his last stop. You've never heard a coach go against that. Feel free to link it though when u find one.

Howland was more a perfect timing hire than anything. He said himself that he'd take a job anywhere and that he'd missed out on several opportunities (TN/Mizz/Marquette). Maybe you have more confidence in State than I do OM but I doubt we'll ever get a big name coach.

With that said, I think Howland is a great coach and has been humbled. He'll be eager to prove everyone wrong that passed on him. OM will have to step up their game somehow. Looking forward to it.
