According to 247Sports, Stone Blanton is ranked #362 nationally, #36 in his position and #8 in the state of Mississippi. He is also a 3-sport athlete.

Blanton is the 4th highest rated commit for the 2022 class! With this commit, South Carolina's 2022 class stands at 16th in the country (was 79th for 2021 class) and 6th in the SEC (was 14th for the 2021 class).

He was also recruited by Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Stanford.

I think ole miss pulled off on him. His brother, who is trying to start up an NIL business in Oxford, absolutely shite on the staff for ghosting him. He ended up melting down on Twitter about it after a lot of lash back

Not a bad prospect, needs to work on lateral quickness to be effective at the next level. Think he wanted to sign with Ole Miss but he wouldn't commit and we moved on about a month ago. Glad he found a landing spot, I have no idea what MSU did to screw this kid's recruitment up. He was committed to them in baseball prior to his football recruiting picking up.

MSU fans didn’t want to hear or see it, but it has been talk around Madison for months he was looking out of State.
Ole Miss realized this with intel and the Bulldogs thought they could convince him otherwise.
Stone went with what he wanted to do.

Good player

Both State and Ole Miss would have loved to have him.

His brother is a huge Ole Miss fan and even has an NIL business for Ole Miss. Yes, he acted a jerk after OM stopped recruiting him but he has since apologized.

Thing is: Stone grew up a Bulldog fan and was committed to play baseball at Miss State before his football recruiting blew up. We just thought it was a foregone conclusion he would be a Dog but the later in the process it got, the less likely that became. It was obvious he was looking somewhere.

He may have been looking to just get away from the Ole Miss vs State BS and play elsewhere.

I doubt baseball had much to do with it, he had not even talked with Gamecock baseball program per a local podcast with South Carolina sources.

He grew up a Bulldog but now he is forever a Cock.

There was some saying, the depth chart may have had a lot to do with him choosing USCe.

Both the MS SEC schools do have good young LB's already there and more committed. The path for playing time should be easier at South Carolina.

Players do make business decisions and South Carolina recruiting is going well especially with Defense. This makes 3 quality LB's this year for USCe. I say all three of them will get an opportunity to play early.

All in all you guys ended up with a really good, solid year. Beamer working out better than a lot of people thought.

Nice pickup.

Yeah I mean, seems like everyone is a winner in this thread. Everyone is getting the players they need.

It doesn't matter at this point but he tried to come back to Ole Miss recently and Ole Miss did not respond. That's why his brother went on that rant. South Carolina is the benefactor. He wanted to play at Ole Miss. We had two linebackers ahead of him but one was committed to Georgia Tech. He decommitted recently and is expected to sign with Ole Miss now and that filled the spot.

I do not know what happened with him and MSU but it had nothing to do with avoiding Ole Miss and State BS.

The second best LB in the state this year. Good tackler with ok speed. Cerebral guy, should be a starter in a couple of years.
