I would rather him go to bama than any other sec team for reasons I will not discuss due to the no flame rule

Why would you hope that another SEC foe gains a foothold in Louisiana?

We dont play them every year for starters.

Isn't it hard enough to just fight off Alabama/TAMU for Louisiana recruits

TAMU has landed 1 guy from Louisiana we wanted (Speedy) since joining the SEC and even with mighty Chavis going over there their only hope of landing anyone we want this year is Michael Divinity (And good luck with that one). Not worried about them.

Also, if Alabama cant sign Carter they seem to be possibly losing a foothold in Louisiana. Only got Daylon Charlot last year (and we still landed the #1 WR in the state).

Yeah, I don't see Georgia building a pipeline into a state that has one of the best grapples on in state talent. Teams may get a player here and there and thats good but you're not going to pipeline into LA permanently. Depth is probably a huge reason Shyheim goes out of state. LSU has the most insane DB depth chart in the nation.

Which is fair that you won't have to play against him, but let's be honest. Alabama will probably sign someone just as good as Carter, so it's not like it is a big loss to us. Don't get me wrong. Carter is very talented and I wish we would have kept him, but UA has four 5* CBs on roster already. We could also turn up the heat on Diggs, who will probably be a great corner by the time we would need him (RSsoph year).

Other than the lulz factor, in the long term I'd rather have a highly ranked in-state kid commit to Auburn over another SEC school. Auburn obviously has established connections in-state, so it wouldn't hurt us for another kid to go there. I don't want the state of Alabama to be infiltrated with coaches who pursue the same players as us.

Except that we have the top Louisiana player committed for 2018, and are in the top five for Rashard Lawrence. I know, of course, that NSD 2018 is a long time away, but this shows that the Louisiana pipeline isn't drying up anytime soon.

More of a tubing connection rather than a pipeline.

I understand your reasoning, but it's not feasible for it to happen that way in Louisiana. The internet era has made it to where these talented kids aren't slipping through the cracks and ending up at McNeese and Northwestern St. The last two years has seen significant increases in the number of guys going to P5 schools not named LSU (with a handful having LSU offers, but most not). And I would expect that to increase yet again this year. It was something like 50+ kids last year. Probably be in the 60s this year.

They are also pursuing Willie Allen, which may begin a pro-UGA pipeline within the state.

It will be the first time the pipeline has opened since Katrina.

Georgia just got Devonta Smith. He says he's close with Carter

Sam Pettito is a big deal for Georgia in Louisiana. That's the connection even moreso than Pruitt

Looks like he's from that area. He's like Austin Thomas is for LSU, as far as position.

Normally, I would be a bit upset, but LSU is killing it in recruiting right now, so I don't really care. Congrats, UGA. Carter looks like a Dawg too.

If you can only mention 1 guy you have committed for the next THREE classes currently we also want I'd say that's a big improvement on our end from the days of Hootie/C.Rob/Sims all in the same class. In the last 3 years (incl. 2016) we've gone from that big LA class you got in 2014, to just Daylon Charlot for 2015 to nobody in 2016 or 2017 (currently). Certainly there's time left but the trend is certainly looking good for us. It's probably going to be different as long as we have Coach O on our side now.

Carter, his mother, and his grandmother spent the weekend at Ole Miss. Trending positively for the Rebels.

No shite. With Alabama's only top LA commit headed elsewhere, the Bama fear is bubbling to the surface.
