Alabama football is embarrassing and their people don't even realize it. Even if they start winning more they won't get much respect outside of the state of Alabama. When I think of Alabama football words such as delusional, corrupt, decadent come to mind.

Didn't Fulmer go through this with UF once? He is burning bridges in the coaching fraternity. I suggest he make sure ALL his house is in order. you know there are those out there waiting to pounce.

SEC commissioner Mike Slive and Fulmer talked about the matter before the Vols' coach departed, and Slive was clearly upset that it happened. A fair question becomes: Is it time for this event to leave Birmingham and bolt for Atlanta, Nashville or somewhere in Florida?

Maybe I'll subpoena Slive, who refers to himself as a recovering attorney, and ask him.

Rocky, see it's just embarassing to the great SEC conference to have you arse clowns running loose. It was a classless ambush with the paper breaking the story as it happened in some sort of "timing" with the law firm. WTF? If it's real business why all the bullshite attempts to make it personal?

You have no clue what you are talking about. The newspaper was not in collusion with the attorneys at all. The paper had reporters there blogging Media Days as it happened. The attorneys handed out info on the subpoena and a release to the full gaggle of sports reporters in the lobby immediately after they gave Fulmer the summons. You act as if the paper was told in advance that Fulmer was going to get served, and sat on it to "scoop" the story. I don't know how you think news is delivered in 2008, but its quite a bit different than the old days when you had to meet a deadline to get a story out. See, theres this thing called the internet....

I do not know all the facts. What I do know is the NCAA says Bama cheated and they were penalized. All this other crap is lawyer drama. It casts a negative light on Bama football once again.

I act as if you're making excuses for embarassing the SEC you mook. Go ahead and split hairs tough guy, you know I'm right.

Media members in Alabama already had copies of the subpoena minutes after Fulmer walked into the lobby of the Wynfrey Hotel. About that same time, the Tuscaloosa News had a story up on its web site.

Many Alabama fans who lived through the Bryant years --even the tail end, honestly feel that Alabama is incapable of doing any wrong. Therefore,Fulmer is 'lying'.

Absolutely, and that is a fact. I'm as disgusted by the whole affair far more than any of you are because I'm a Bama fan. You'll NEVER see me here trying to spin or deny the whole Means saga. However, I will call somebody out for trying to spin things in a worse light than they are, which is what is happening here. The newspaper was not in collusion with the lawyers. To act as if having the story online minutes after it happened is some sort of evidence a advance knowledge is just plain ignorant. This is a high speed world with news on demand. As I said previously, there were bloggers, radio shows, & reporters representing every newspaper in the Southeast at Media days, and they all broke the story at roughly the same time. Even ESPN ran it within twenty minutes of it happening. Hell, this website was posting comments on it within minutes of it happening.

Now, don't take this as some kind of support for what they did. Those arse-clowns hijacked media days to showboat their case. I DO believe that the NCAA should be called into account for using secret witnesses and having no oversight or accountability for their actions (including violating their own bylaws in the Means case) but I DO NOT feel like this was the appropriate venue for it.

My thoughts on this saga fwiw,

The guy has been disassociated from Bama, he's entitled to do whatever he wants, but I hate that it continues to drag the University of Ala into the spotlight. We need to distance from this as much as possible.

I don't think the University should respond or make any comments about it, other than, it appears to be a civil suit between and individual and the NCAA, we have nothing to do with it, we're moving forward.

Finally, I think some blame does have to follow on the Fatster. This crap with the individuals involved have been going on and he's not been sued by any of them. He could have been deposed several years ago and had this all behind him and over with. While I probably think their suits are baseless. Phil has given credence to those who think he's hiding something by, well, basically hiding from them.
