Well now that's just completely unnecessary.

The lazy river? I was making a joke. LSU took a lot of flack for building that in the face of possible budget cuts. Never mind that the $84.75 million project was funded with student fees...it's part of the LSU UREC...and no taxpayer money was spent on it.

This is Ayers Hall (one of our very few older building) and that flat land is EXTREMELY deceptive since the way to get to Ayers Hall is to climb an ungodly hill (Ayers known as The Hill by student and alum). In fact, when the Pride of the Southland Marching Band does it's Salute to the Hill that building is what they're saluting. And note the tower shewing the checkerboard. THAT is why we have checkerboard endzones.

Neat fact: When UT needed to relocate/expand it was none other than Thomas Jefferson who recommended the Hill.

Its a rite of passage for unsuspecting froshies to get stuck with either guidance counseling on what courses classes take OR have classes on the Hill (not just Ayers) and to eventually figure out that they don't need to schedule classes there unless they're in a few majors. This rite is why the Pride turns and faces The Hill and plays to it. A lot of folks don't realize that.

Alumni Memorial Building (photo doesn't do it justice but you can get that it's OLD). It's also on the Hill:

As for statues...we have Europa and the Bull by Carl Milles. it's very valuable because Milles is famous that hasn't stopped students from painting Zeus' balls orange or dyeing the fountain.

Too bad the other angle shows one of our uglier buildings.

Dear ol' State

Lee Hall

Business Row

Drill Field and Library

Chapel of Memories

Student Union (Third floor is my personal favorite place to take a dump. To this day, even on gamedays, its empty.)

Tribute to Students who have died

Residence Hall Village

Best place to get ice cream in the SEC

The foliage is what surprises people about MSU.

State's campus is really under-rated. It's come a long. long way from what it used to look like.

Yes not too long ago either (and yes I was def. well beyond the foosball areas and def agree that their have been major improvements. AMB?
That the Haslsam Music Building? The ugly one near the sculpture I was thinking of is McClung, hell HSS too.

But lots of new buildings look great as does our landscape and outdorrr improvements.

There is definitely some remnant of mistakes of the past (orange brick), but since Donald Zacharias' presidency, we;ve pretty much made smarter decisions across the board, sans the Charles Lee extended interim presidency that gave us the Croom error. and this hideous building.

AMB?

Was agreeing that Alumni Memorial Building is nice. But yeah, I agree that McClung tower is one of the worst...looks like an office building that belongs downtown.

I forget the number thats being only put into landscaping/beautification, but it is substantial. It is what the campus needs though, less concrete and more green areas...take advantage of an already pretty area.

I love these threads.

Just graduated from UGA and the only places I traveled to for games during college were auburn a couple times and Jacksonville/St.Simons. Definitely was planning to go to Baton Rouge my senior year before SEC realignment took that game off our schedule.

I'm hoping to check out Vandy and Tennessee this year and hopefully LSU for a game.
