10-3 in Harbaugh's first year and they return just about everyone but Jake Rudock. Considering Harbaugh has always had good QB play, and Harbaugh is actually a great coach when you get past the goofball stuff, I can see this. Still think they're a year away from being a legitimate national title contender, though.

I dunno. Preseason rankings pretty much have to be projections. They certainly can't rank them by cumulative success on the field yet.
The press' love affair with Michigan with Harbaugh strikes me a little bit like -- and forgive me, War Eagle fans -- Auburn with Gus. They're projecting mainly on the idea that the coach is the Hot New Thing (despite the fact that they're actually old things returning to the fold) that will take the CFB world by storm soon. None of them actually know how the coach will play out in the long run.
