All I do know is that Auburn football hasn't been on probation since the very early '90's? How many times has bama been on probation since then?
On probation for recruiting related matters? One time since then. Once. For all the butt hurt claims of Bama buying recruits, there is ONE instance of probation for recruiting.

There really is something to be said about being "process" oriented. When you are 18 and you come into a program that is focused on changing the way you talk, walk, act, practice, etc... by someone who knows and controls your entire schedule, you're bound to buy in.
I've always been intrigued by Coach Saban's success and how he gets it done. People like to joke about being process oriented, but in reality, it's two things: (1) Incredibly hard to do because of the need for precision in the details and repetitiveness (2) Can make other things extraordinarily easy once you buy in.
The process starts as a "macro" plan, and works down to the very "micro" details. Saban has figured out how, in a specific set of days, what he has to do each hour of every day given to him, to get his team ready to compete at the highest level possible.
Could you do this? Yes! Would it drive a normal man insane? Quite possibly.
But try it for yourself. figure out how you can be the best you can be with a goal in mind. Figure out what you need to do to reach those goals. figure out what you need to do on a daily basis to achieve those goals. Fit them into your schedule, make a table deciphering what you do down to the hour, and then when that "period" of time comes, focus on absolutely nothing but the task at hand.
The process requires incredible mental strength. In days where social media like twitter has reduced our attention span to 20 seconds, the process requires top-notch, uninterrupted focus on the task at hand. If you consistently do the right things in your schedule, and don't focus on anything else, you'll notice after the time flies by that the aggregate of your work can build up.
It's why Alabama graduates its football players better than anyone in the SEC, and still manages to obliterate SEC teams by 50 points on Saturday.
It isn't a mystery of what Saban's formula is, what is a mystery is how someone has such a mindset to continue to follow such a razor sharp focus day in and day out.

Nobody said shite about "recruiting related". Probation's. Total probation's bama has had since Auburn had their last? I could not begin to tell you when Auburn had their last "recruiting related" probation.

I believe Cam was suspended for about 23 minutes (until Bobby Lowder could make a phone call) and then reinstated by the NCAA.

You're overblowing it. Tons of people are process oriented. Jason Garrett learned the "process" from Saban in Miami and has implemented it with the Dallas Cowboys.

Lol. If he didn't outrecruit everyone and line up with more talent than everyone else, you don't believe this for a second. Look at 2001 Miami. They were completely "results" oriented and would have romped any Saban coached Alabama team... why? More talent.

You're an idiot.
You can watch how Michael Jordan practices, but that doesn't mean you have the drive or the will power to do it that way, all the time, and continue to reach for more, when others see your success as the pinnacle.
His process includes his own personal set of daily "to-dos." That includes recruiting at a feverish and relentless pace.
How many coaches are talking about going on a recruiting trip with the Gatorade still dripping from their ears after winning their 3rd BCS title in 4 years? No one.
Just because others try to mimic it, doesn't mean the execution is where it needs to be.
Do what you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it, the way its supposed to be done. It is incredibly simple, but incredibly difficult to maintain on a daily basis. His ability to do so is what separates him from the pack.

Yes , but McCarron had just won a title as a soph. , so he didn't want to wait 3 years to compete , plus we had a good QB recruit in the same class.
This plus I think Winston wanted to play baseball too, and Florida St. let him.

Dodge Chargers, free "house sitting", and "coaches loans" sure help in recruiting also.
So does paying off people at the top to cover about 180,000 hypocrisies!

lol...it's not hard to cover up money when your dad is a preacher with the ability to accept untraceable anonymous cash donations to the church.
Honestly, I don't care though. The players should be compensated for the work they do. They do far and away more work than I did while I was in school and I worked 3 frikken part time jobs.

Fair enough. I have my peace about it all wayyyyy by now, lol. I'd just rather everyone not get in deep crap with the NCAA around these parts anyway.

No doubt. We are already handicapped by Les' game day coaching, or lack of, we just can't afford to fall that far behind in recruiting in one year and expect to compete with bama much less win. I know it's only one year, but it hurts the team, especially depth wise and add to the fact that we have so much attrition on a regular basis.
With bama's recruiting, not only does LSU need to keep pace with them (meaning top five class every year) but we also need some of Les' game time gambling magic to pay off in order to beat bama.
We just can't fall back in recruiting because we (LSU) are already behind the bama 8 ball in terms of coaching intensity and focus.

IMO Chavis is missing Ron Cooper (former DB coach that went to the Bucs and is now the DB coach at USF).
