Don't be stupid. Surely you had to take a stats class at some point when you were learning how to strike it rich setting traffic light timers.

The average starting salary for State grads is not $41,200. The average salary for members of a sample set was $41,200. I design data collection processes and analyze data for a living, and I can guarantee you that the WSJ didn't spend anywhere near the resources you'd have to devote to data collection to have numbers even remotely comparable across institutions. How was this data gathered, and by whom? Did the universities send out surveys? Does Ole Miss do a better job of keeping up with non-donor alumni, skewing the average salary of the alumni on file downward? Does State do a better job of it and have a significantly greater advantage than these numbers reflect? Are hayseeds more likely to overstate their earnings than hipsters? Are Ole Miss students more likely to start out their careers working in low-paid internships because their parents can afford to help them out? There's no telling, and those numbers are meaningless. That's the reason you see different organizations ranking "college value" in entirely different ways. Nobody has reliable data.

For you dickheads from other states, though, who both accept this kind of nonsense and have made disparaging remarks about Mississippi in this thread, Forbes ranked academics at Ole Miss 4th in the SEC a couple years ago. Only Florida, Georgia, and Vandy outranked us. (TAMU and Mizzou probably did too, but they weren't in the conference at the time.)

Forbes ranked it by best buys for a college education. Not by best academics.

Anyway, who cares? Its still Mississippi. Every state in America is thankful for Mississippi so they won't be last on any list.

Wrong. Only Ole Miss and Florida were in the top 20 nationally for "Best Buys." the ranking I referenced above was for academics.

Somebody's upset that Tennessee was ranked behind MSU & Ole Miss.

Other than assuming state grads all time traffic lights for a living and calling some people dickheads, was anything in my post even remotely subjective? (The traffic light thing wasn't really technically subjective either, but it was based on subjective assessments of aptitudes; so it probably counts.)

Interesting numbers, but you have us by $2,600.

$2,600 in Mississippi is like 10 billion dollars.

Thats a different study sis. The one your are referencing specifically cites low-level of debt. Thus, the cheapest is also considered.

Thats besides the point. Both of those schools are in the armpit of America - otherwise known as Mississippi. So who cares if they were the ranked #1 and #2 in America and they were free, they would still be in Mississippi. I am pretty sure you can catch the clap by just looking at women there.

Didnt got to UT. I assume my college is ranked above MSU and Ole Miss. Didn't look and really don't care. But hey, if you wanna pound your chest about the number 272th institute of higher ed. go right ahead. Thats kind of like Kramer kicking a bunch of 4th graders arse at the Dojo.

Either way, I don't care. It's a state that hovers around 50 in every list.
