Prince Hall was known for being a troublemaker. Alonzo Lawrence transferred to Southern Miss and is now at Mississippi Gulf Coast College. The guy's been at three different schools in the last three years. What does that say about him? Not exactly the best sources to turn to.

These guys didn't do what they were supposed to do here, whether it was for academic reasons or whatever.

Mr. Preyear's current coach at Alabama State, confirmed Mr. Preyear's account that he wasn't dismissed by Alabama for rules violations but had asked to transfer.

Mr. Preyear transferred to Alabama State. His coach, Mr. Barlow, said he isn't playing because of low grades.

Really? WSG is reporting on four guys that transfer to get more playing time. Looks like someone at WSG is not fond of Saban.

Sounds like it is a violation of team rules to quit and go to another school...

Somebody with a better memory than mine help me out here. Didn't Coach Miles get lambasted earlier this year, by the national media as well as the anti-Miles LSU crowd, for having to renege on two scholarship offers that he couldn't honor because he was over his maximum number of signees. Seems like he fessed up to his goof-up and made a sincere effort to help these kids out. What exactly was the deal? Sounds like Coach Miles is a more honorable man than Coach Saban.

What did Saban do that is less than honorable?

Didn't this exact article come out like 6 months ago?

Doesn't matter anymore since the rules were changed on how many a team can over sign.

wsj is down to plagarizing their fellow reporters.

A man is only as good as his word.
quote:
Alabama lured Saban from the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, ending five weeks of denials and two days of deliberation. Saban, who two weeks ago declared "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach," accepted the Tide's job offer job and abandoned his attempt to rebuild the Dolphins after only two seasons.
quote:
UA football SID Jeff Purinton said that Hall would not play today because of a violation of team policy.
quote:
I asked Saban post-game if receiver DJ Hall was suspended for 30 minutes from the beginning. As in, was it a game suspension that turned into a half suspension?
"It was what it was," he said.
So, I asked, a half suspension?
"What it was," Saban said.

My post was in reply to the guy who said Saban was not a honorable guy in regards to the article. I see nothing in the article that indicates he is less than honorable.
In reply to your two points.
1. He simply did what many before him and many more in the future will do. A coach will almost never admit to looking at another job. Nature of the business. He could have handled the situation better, which he has admitted to several times. Should have simply said, no comment.
2. Saban is the coach, he is the one who made the decision to suspend DJ. If he adds more time or takes some away that is his decision. He gets paid millions to do what is best for the program, I see nothing wrong with him doing that.

That was Hall's last game at BDS. Senior Day. His family was there so Saban decided to let him play the second half. So....
