If it was an ice ball that would be different. A snowball no.

But snow is rare in those parts and can cause all sorts of pain and damage

Good question. Short answer - nobody. Particularly not a college football player.

Let's look at the known facts. We've got a Matthew McConaughey wannabe that's been punched in the face, a football player accused of throwing said punch, and a football player accused of throwing a snowball.

Betcha the guy that took the punch either (a) threw a snowball and hit one or both of them. One responded with his own snowball and the other with his fist or (b) snowball throwing player hit the punchee and he responded with a comment that set off the puncher.

Either way, I strongly suspect the guy that took the punch is downplaying his role in the incident.
