The NFL was not going to let him go undrafted, as it would have been bad PR for them.

This is the correct answer.

I would if his play warranted it.

Hell naw, theres plenty of defensive ends that are better than him. He's like Jason Collins, the only reason hes famous is because he came out. I don't want to see gay rights activists every 5 seconds either.

I think you give them too much credit, it will always be a lingering liability. Sam will carry with him a media circus like that of Tebow and he will until he leaves the league or someone that is a better player comes in to carry the torch.

He was just good enough for there to be a torch. It should just be about football, like Sam said himself. The media has to make it about more than that, and they'll use anything for that to be the case. There's a baseball movie that's either already out or coming out about being the first Indian baseball player.

Of course - isn't he a good football player?

No. Because I don't think he's big or fast enough to draft. There were dozens upon dozens of better picks than him.

Fisher won't let the locker room become a shite show like the dolphins did

Pacman Jones, Lendale White, Albert Haynesorth, Vince Young. Jeff Fisher hade more shite shows in his locker room in Nashville than most coaches have in a career. Maybe different types of shite shows, but shite shows nonetheless. Fisher's track record of keeping degenerates in line isn't that good. I don't for one second believe that Jeff Fisher is capable of keeping order in that locker room and keeping the players from being abusive toward Sam.

Well, I wouldn't go that far with things. He had a bad combine but saying there are dozens and dozens of better picks when you are in the 7th round isnt accurate.

The water is murky, at best, in the 7th round.

Would you care if the consenting adults were siblings? What if she was 16 and he was 69?

You're contradicting yourself. As long as it's not illegal and it doesn't effect your life, then it shouldn't matter to you. You don't have to agree with things like this, as long as it doesn't effect you personally.

This. Not big enough to play DE, not mobile enough to play OLB.

Depends, yes if I needed a situational pass rusher, no otherwise. That gay stuff is a non issue for anyone with a brain.

If college aged team mates can respect someone for their contribution to the sport and have the sense to ignore his sexual preference, surely, older players can show the same maturity.

Bullies at any age, are lacking in self respect,

"Gay stuff" is definitely not a non-issue in this country, unfortunately.

Anyone with a brain knows that there is a lot more to professional football than just what happens on the field.

I don't think it's fair to speculate on this young man's sexuality.
