He would have played, and LSU would have mauled OU. Did you see the first look at Aranda's defense in the bowl game? Yaw could ride an airboat around the fricking mississippi all game and Aranda alone will give LSU a shot in every game

Slow your roll there. Our defense only allowed 60 yards rushing in our bowl game yet we'd given up school records in passing and rushing in our last 4 games against offensive juggernauts SC, UK, Mizzou and Vandy. While I'm pleased as punch that getting a few of our guys healed and the DEs we'd been forced to play at DT time to learn the position allowed them to do that I know damned well that we 1. still don't have our defensive guys back healthy and may not have all of them back by the start of the year and 2. still have a lot of work to do on defense. And truly, when you consider the volume of injuries a hair over 60 yards rushing with no DTs is an impressive as hell defensive performance (that was a record low rushing for Nebraska).

IOW, I have reasons to believe that not only will Shoop work things out but that we also won't be forced into playing 27 different starters on defense again BUT I'm far from ready to say that we won't even need offense next year. Some caution about bowl performances never hurts.

that's fair. I'm just bored and am playing along with a blatant troll.

And even if I think LSU would have given OU a much better game, it's not like I think we deserved it over Auburn. I don't think O is the answer for LSU football, but with him LSU would have left Jordan-Hare with a win. Oh well, shite happens I guess. O has a cheap buyout and will deliver some great laughs, win or lose

Ah in that case.

FWIW, I actually do think Aranda will have LSU's defense humming next season. The pieces are there for LSU's D and most of the transition period of going to a 3-4 will have been ironed out as seems to have already happened. Then again, I also feel Shoop will have us doing pretty well on the defensive side next season and plenty of people here doubt him without taking into account the insane injuries we had on defense this season (27 different starters on D is truly hard to fathom). I'm not looking forward to the loss of Barnett's production on D even though we have good players there. He was game-changer on D. If we make a staffing change and replace our secondary coach I'll feel a lot better.

Because of his success as a coach against Auburn in the past? Or because Miles couldn't seem to get that elusive Auburn win?

I'm not sure why it bothers you so much that LSU played much better football under O the second half of the season. It's not like I'm anointing Yaw as Saban 2.0. It's just a fact that O re-energized the team with some new ideas and adjustments. If you didn't see the improvement from LSU under Yaw, then I don't know what to tell you.

I was adamantly against the O hire and to an extent still am (pretty well documented. I laugh at him all the time). However, it's okay to acknowledge that he had LSU paying really good football under him. With les this season, not so much.

Auburn played better under Bill Oliver when Bowden quit, but we never considered hiring him. I've never seen a fanbase live in a world of ifs and buts like LSU.
You lost to us, we made the Sugar Bowl. Orgeron should've beaten UF.

I just said like 4 posts above that Auburn absolutely deserved to go to the sugar bowl over LSU, so congrats?

Oh, and that's just fricking hilarious you think this season was what led to les miles' demise. he pretty much lost his mind after 1/9/12, and frankly I don't blame him. he didn't deserve that rematch and had saban by the throat.

he made the best man in his wedding the highest paid OC in football after being fired from multiple jobs and made another buddy the worst special teams coach in the conference...all after LSU generously letting les have the largest staffing budget in football.

it was time for him to go.

eta: that's honestly like LSU fans saying Auburn fans are fricking morons fore firing tub. tubberville was on the decline, and it showed even after he left auburn. it's the same thing with LSU.
