Would Jayden Daniels have still won the HT if LSU had a Dcord worth a damn?

If LSU had a great defense this year that allowed JD to sit out late in games I do not know if he has the numbers to beat out Penix or Harrison. You can make a case that House was an awful Dcord but he won LSU a HT. LSU fans what do you think?

LSU fans rather have Daniels win the HT instead of having the team being in the playoff.

I see what you are asking here. I honestly have thought of this. If LSU has a better D, less need to outscore teams till the very end. Nuss gets a lot of mop up time and JD5 stats aren’t as inflated. This could have swung a few votes in the end. Guess we will never know.

His “per play” stats were phenomenal. Total yardage may have been less, but he would likely have a similar number of possessions because the D would get him the ball back more often. They would have just been through three quarters. Also, LSU would likely be undefeated with a mid-30s ranked defense. I think you would see a Burrow-like runaway if that were the case.

If LSU had an average defensive coordinator, Daniels would have won the Heisman and would be in the playoffs.

Yes. The only reason there was ever a debate was because of the 3 losses
JD5 at the helm of an undefeated or one-loss LSU wins the award by a Burrow-esque margin and there’s no one else even in the discussion

he also would've had more drives/opportunities with a good defense...Penix and Nix threw 100 passes more than JD. If you look at backup qb reps they are pretty even.
