Having to play both LSU and Florida every season would probably change those stats. Even good teams can get worn down from tough schedules. Well, that is unless the SEC office gives them bye weeks before every big game like they do for Bama.

UF vs LSU 31-25.

UF vs Lsu 64.2%
Bama vs Lsu 64.2%

All things being equal:

Bama vs Fla 61.1%

Nothing changes. Bama would still be the SEC's and NCAA's premiere team.

Snce we are talking about titles and permanent opponents we can only be talking about post-expansion. So Bama's titles from the 1920s through the 1970s and safe from this exercise. Bama has won 4 titles in the 21 year expansion era.

In 1992 Bama played UF in the SEC title game and won. Not sure Alabama's undefeated season would have been derailed by an earlier game against UF.

You then have to flash forward through a on and off period of good seasons and horrible ones for 17 years before we talk about the 2009 NC.

During the heart of that time we lost 7 straight to UT. Replacing UT with UF for that period could only have helped. Maybe we could have taken one from UF.

2009 - Bama thrashed UF in the SEC title game. Would a game during the regular season, even a loss kept Bama out of the title game. Probably not.

2011 - 7-6 UF v. 12-1 Bama . Surely, UF would have derailed that NC, right?

2012 - 11-2 UF would have presented a much bigger challenge than 5-7 UT, but near losses to LA-Laf. and Bowling Green make it hard to believe UF QBs could hang with the Bama D.

If someone wants to do a yearly UF/UT breakdown from 1992 through 2012 I am all ears, but I'll rest on my above post that swapping those 2 would not have affected our 4 titles and might have led to a win or two along the 7 year rape at the hands of UT in the late 90's early 2000s.

Alabama is 3-1 against UF in their last 4 meetings (last meeting in '11).

Alabama is 22-14 (.611) all-time against the Gators.

These two stats blow up your entire theory/thread.

We lead the series in Atlanta though.

IIRC, Bama beat UF in 92, 09, and 11 on the way to winning NC's. So that only leaves 12, and imho UF was bad overrated last season. Bama would have beat them worse than Louisville.

1992: Bama 28. Florida 21
2009: Bama 32 Florida 13
2011: Bama 31. Florida 6

Clearly Alabama wouldn't have won these titles if they had to play Florida......err.....or maybe not.

We y'all sucked in 2011, so I can't imagine much would have changed that year, and last year, you managed to beat an LSU team whose offense was awful at times and a South Carolina team that handed over 3 turnovers in the first half (seriously 29 yards of total offense in the first half). I don't think much would have changed.
