I honestly couldn't care less who comes in, as long as he coaches the D up to a level of mediocre/decent.
He does that, sure, I'd be good with him.

Not sure "excited" is a fitting characterization.
We just need someone to get our D operating at 50-60%.
The offense will take care of the rest.

LSU fans are taking this harder than I could have ever imagined.

True. I take some solace in that.

But damn, we're gonna have to be lights out next month through the end of the season. Just to get a middling seed.

We gotta get healthy by hook or by crook.

He'll do that, but it will take him a couple of years because he's average without his kind of talent. He's a very good DC, most of us have mixed emotions about him leaving. Love/Hate relationship. His two minute defense is pretty bad, and that's the main source of LSU angst.

Aggies with a good defense is something all other SEC teams should worry about.

This is garbage. Chief is in the top 3 of DC in college football. While he gets a bad rep for giving up late game TDs, it's not all his fault(I.e. Bama this year. Offense shite the bed after Yeldon fumble - actually offense shite the bed all year)

Uhhh no: Sumlin is a Great coach!! You could have good Defensive talent...A&M has in the past. As far a being an Aggie fan I would probably jump but that's up to you.

he's been falling off the past several years.

In all honesty, I agree with this, although I won't assume it's because he's lost his edge.

Has something to do with talent. He's not much of a recruiter and needs someone dynamic to bring him good talent to work with. In 2011 LSU's defense was pretty damn awesome. Early this season, it was horrible. Today looked like a return of the team we saw vs Wisconsin.

He's a fantastic defensive coordinator that probably won't look as good in college station as he did in Baton Rouge. Aggy won't understand how their particular offense creates bad defense, and it will frustrate them. But he'll be better than what they had, and it was a great hire.

He's not very high energy. Don't know if he ever was at Tenn?

At age 58, his face, weight, and physique, look ten years older than actual age. He doesn't like recruiting much.

Love what he stands for ethically, and his SEC knowledge. Love his ability to plug-and-play, and move small LBs/big DBs around.

Think it may work out well for both ATM and LSU long haul. ATM needs his league knowledge, LSU needs more p!ss and vinegar.
