Both universities cannot have 7 losses since they still play each other so one could have 6 to the other 7

This ^^^. Although Nebraska accepted the bid last year against the Trojans of USC . The Huskers had the 5-7 record and went on to beat USC. That looks horrible if you are a proud program like that and you LOSE to the team that isn't even .500.

You are correct. They even clarified that the bowls HAVE to go down the APR list. Considering that both LSU and Ole Miss are greater than 125th in APR in D1, I suspect there will not be enough bowls granted to 5-7 teams to get into a bowl. Vandy, on the other hand, has a much better shot.
