The 2008 Mizzou defense. 6 future NFL players. 30 PPG allowed. Worst passing defense in the league. Got eviscerated by Texas and OU. Inexcusable losses to OKlite and kU.

Exactly. While the 90s defenses were usually worse, they didn't have as much talent
Obviously the '08 defense was missing talent in some areas, but they suffered mainly from poor coaching

1999 SC offense. Defense was 14th in the country... Offense couldn't score over 5 ppg
