Not sure how this compares to some of the other places mentioned but if for some reason you want your soul crushed try driving, by yourself, from Albany Ga to Blakeley Ga on SR 62.

It's an awful, boring drive
Can't be worse than driving from Memphis to Little Rock.

even Detroit.
Have you been to Detroit? Had to go up for a family thing and was shocked at how much fun it was. Literally thought they had to be paying attractive girls to be there because there were so many. Second night definitely evened back out, but I expected it to be a dump.

Was crazy seeing a couple huge/nice hospitals and other buildings completely abandoned from the bankruptcy.

Jackson(MS), Montgomery, Albany, West Memphis arkansas, meridian, Birmingham, Auburn, anywhere in Texas that isn't part of a lake.

Louisiana doesn't count because it is a different country. they don't speak english and they eat river rat.

Montgomery has to be up there for the worse. I get asked for money, ran off the road, etc every fricking day around here.

So move...

it's really not all that tough to do.

Good quail hunting in this area. Disagree.

Start North of Baton Rouge and go North, all the way through Memphis, staying on the East Side of the Mississippi River. 90% chance that any decent sized town you encounter will qualify for 'Worst'

Put another way, simply pull up the Red/Blue 2016 Election Map---you'll find an isolated blue cone that extends upward along the lower Mississippi.

West Memphis arkansas

I live outside of West Memphis and it does suck. Marion is a nice enough little town, but West Memphis is a pit of despair.

That having been said, West Memphis is like an oasis of prosperity and safety compared to many places in the Arkansas/Mississippi Delta. West Helena/Helena is far worse. There are entire communities in that area that are in the long and slow process of dying on the vine.

Memphis... sort of belongs on the list and sort of doesn't. There are some wonderful parts to the city. The problem is that Memphis is a patchwork city. Instead of good neighborhood, then decent neighborhood, then poor neighborhood... you've got million dollar homes on this street and the next street over even the cockroaches are packing heat.

This describes almost every decent sized Southern town.

Memphis is great. There is a petition right now to change Main Street's name to Mane Street.

Would be perfect. Then every street branching off could be Lil Mane, Lil Mane Jr, etc

How did this thread get to 4 pages? The answer is simple: ANY PLACE IN THIS GREEN AREA

I grew up there. It's not like anything else in the US, except maybe the Native American counties in SD.

If we're just talking about the shittiest large towns/cities in the SEC footprint, it's pretty easy IMO

Jackson
Montgomery
Memphis

Memphis admittedly has more redeeming qualities than the other two, but it's similarly hopeless.
