100MM = 100000000
100M = 100000
It's misleading.

What the hell are you talking about?
100MM to almost anybody means 100 millimeters, meaningless in this context.
100K is 100,000. 100M is 100 million. There's nothing misleading about it. OP goofed.

Well crap, it's no wonder our national debt is so bad. All of our accountants are morons. Roman numerals??? Really? What the actual frick?
ETA: BTW the score of the Pac12 championship game is currently XLIV - VII, in case you're having trouble reading the scoreboard.

Solve this equation: X - V- III-II =
The number of fricks given about using Roman numerals to do math.

Lots of dumb people in this thread.

The Roman numeral M is often used to indicate one thousand, and MM is used to indicate one million. For example, an expense of $60,000 might appear as $60M. Sales of $3,000,000 might be written as $3MM. Internet advertisers are familiar with CPM which is the cost per thousand impressions.

I feel silly now - my IX year old probably would have figured it out faster than the "dumb" in this thread.

More accounting nonsense. Ask any scientist or engineer (in other words the important people).
1K = 1,000
1M = 1 million
1B = 1 billion
These are universal... well... national. I can't believe some are in here debating this.

The most common use I've seen in that context has been "thousandths", not "thousands."

M = ROMAN NUMERAL FOR THOUSAND. So 400M= 400000 and 4MM = 4000000

A whole lot of Aggies need to stick to engineering and not finance.
$10MM is $10 million.
$10MM is $10 million.
