Figured this would be a nice place to discuss what it feels like to win a National Championship in the main SEC revenue generating sport, Football.

What do you remember about it? How old were you? Do you think you will see it happen again and how soon?

Knowing I’ve seen 3 LSU football championships and I’m only in my early 30s, so chances are high I’ll see another.

Bama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn all you guys are welcome here. Hell even Tenn, Texas, and Oklahoma guys who are in their 30s or older.

A&M with all their money has a chance in my lifetime to do it. It’s at least a non 0% chance.

I do feel bad for the poverty schools that will never sniff a football Natty such as:

Vanderbilt
South Carolina
Kentucky
Miss State

It must be tough knowing you will leave the earth knowing you will never see that moment. How do you cope with that reality?

A response thread to a women’s bball game at 12:20 AM EST on a Monday.

Sad.

Replying to a response to a thread about women’s basketball at the exact same time says what about you?

I do like women’s basketball as LSU is reigning National Champions.

However this thread is about football. Please contribute accordingly.

Or is this how you cope?

From SC born and raised. Thank God my parents weren’t retarded or otherwise I might’ve been raised a LSU fan.

Witnessed three at the age of 11, 15, and 27. Was glorious each time!

Your school is known for nothing but a funny mascot that people make jokes about male genitalia with and being decent at women’s hoops.

Honestly you’d been better off being raised a Clemson fan. You’d at least have something to celebrate. Your poor parents handed down to you the chicken curse and a second rate athletic program.

Quite unfortunate. In our house divided I tell my children they are free to pull for LSU or the Gamecocks but if they actually want to see their team win anything that matters they’d better pick LSU.

I’m guessing this is how you cope?

Watched the best college team ever win it all in 2019-2020.

Watched Burrow destroy Oklahoma in Atl Pesch Bowl semi’s.

And then watched them shut Clemson’s big mouths in my hometown & Superdome. Of which, I think it crushed Clemson & Dabo’s souls, they have not been close to the same since.

But I will say this, the BEATING LSU put on OklaChoka, was BRUTAL! Looked like we were playing a JV team.

Was a great run & LSU caught Lightning in a Bottle. Several ALL-PRO’s & Stars on that team.

Will never forget being in that NUMBER!

And I’ll give a shout out to our old Ball Coach, Shrimp Boat Captain, Man amongst Boys, COACH O, many people dig on him, but I know him personally & he’s a special cat & put that team and staff together. So many people disrespect him.

response threads are lame, expecially ones you have to spend a while thinking of what to make it about.

Kentucky should view this as a win.

To be included with 2 schools that have been ranked top 3 in football at some point in past

Favorite was 92. Wasn’t expecting that, figured we had a good chance as good as our defense was, but the domination is still one of the greatest defensive performances I’ve ever seen.

It’s even more impressive when you see how bad Jay Barker sucked. I think he completed more downfield passes to Miami players than Alabama players.

LSU football National Championships:

1958
2003
2007
2019

Someone in their 30's who saw the 1958 national championship probably thought they would see another, as well. It was only 45 years until the next one...so, I suppose some of them did.

1950 Kentucky, under Paul "Bear" Bryant, won the NC. They beat Oklahoma which received the better portion of the so-called "mythical" championship. But won a portion. So you are wrong. And Coach Bryant actually has 7 NCs to his credit.
