I'm not saying that a change wasn't necessary, but expectations may be too high for LSU because of the early to mid 2000's.
To be fair, they also had terrible luck getting an unfair rematch with Bama in the national championship game.

Call it what you want, but people go on like Alabama should have won because of missed field goals. News flash bro special teams is a phase of football. Alabama lost that game just admit it. You would think AL fans could after that arse whipping they put on us two months later, but no they are too entitled to believe they were just beat earlier in the season.

How do you melt about a nice win 5 years ago? Just trying to understand the Alabaman brain.

Meh, a kicker doesn't usually miss all FIVE fgs. We played that whole game on LSUs end of the field. Difference in those 2 games, We hit the fgs the second time around. LSU never had any offense in either game. That 2011 offense wasn't much better than this year.

Very much the same. Since 1932 (inception of SEC) UGA is 13th in the nation in winning pct and LSU is 14. UGA has won 12 SEC titles and LSU 11. I would note, however, that since 1970 UGA is 9th in winning pct in the nation, which is good for 2nd in the SEC, and LSU is 18th, which puts them at 6th.
Like Coach Bryant said about Florida, if UGA ever gets it right, they will be a consistent contender for SEC titles and playoff opportunities.
I have said a few times, even on this board, that I think Smart made a bad decision with the O.C. hire. I have not changed my mind about that. He best rectify that or he may be defensive coordinator again in a few years. Quite honestly, I'm not sure why UGA didn't hire a proven head coach. They have even more potential than LSU, imo, to be a major contender, but settled on a pig in the poke. Smart may prove to be a great head coach, or he may not. Only Florida, Texas, and California consistently produce more blue chip players than the state of Georgia, and UGA rules that state. Smart does seem to be recruiting well, so maybe he'll produce for them.
Oh well. I guess I hijacked the thread about LSU. Sorry about that.

Well, he was talking about voodoo luck. I would argue that your opponent missing several field goals is pretty lucky.

It's hard to view 2007 LSU as national champs with 2 losses even though they are national champs; the voodoo luck thing. But to say they are the Georgia of the west under Miles is way off.
Miles took LSU to to 2 SEC titles and 2 BCSNCG appearances with a win.
Georgia under Richt won 2 SEC titles in probably the worst years of the SEC in the BCS era. UGA went 2-1 in BCS games with ZERO being BCS title appearances.
Georgia is Iowa of the SEC. So much hype and expectations with very little results.
Iowa has won 2 Big Ten titles. Has ZERO NC appearances, and a 1-2 BCS bowl record under Ferentz.

So besides all of those national championship games LSU played in, LSU is no different than UGA.
I'll accept that.
I'll accept that.

Oklahoma St was a better mathcup for LSU....bama's strength was stopping the run...which was LSU's strength. OKST's defense was pourous and their offense was typical of other offenses that LSU had destroyed that year. I would have taken my changes with them over Bama.

LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2011.

After we saw what happened in the national championship, I'm sure you would.
