I think if Alex Collins can stay healthy he could maybe rush for 1500 yards or so. Bert's offense will need to lean more on him this year. Hopefully he can stay productive all year instead of tailing off in the late season.

I'm glad he cut the weight he put on. He's not meant to be a power back.

1700 and 15TDs is my baseline for Collins this year.

How is 1500 crazy at all when he's rushed for over 1000 2 years in a row while splitting carries?

How many snaps per game will he be getting and who will be his back up?

Let's out a respectful whistle

That's some serious mileage based on his current production where he was splitting the workload. He'd have to add about 100 carries, I would assume, to get to that level of production.

Will be interesting to see how durable he can be getting that many more snaps

I'm thinking that Walker and Rawleigh Williams pick up the slack and we don't miss a beat when it comes to the meat of the schedule. They may have some early "growing" pains but that'll be during the first few cupcake games. RWIII has been earning rave reviews from the coaches, comparing him to Montee Ball. Watch the dude's tape and he's definitely nothing to brush off. A few recruiting services listed him as the best RB out of Texas from a "smaller" school where he just absolutely ran wild. 300 yards and 5 TDs weren't an uncommon stat line for this guy. Walker seems to have gotten even better than he has been, which isn't saying a ton, but he can absolutely be a successful back with some experience. I hate it for JWill, but I'm excited to see what these two guys can do in his absence. We already know what Collins is capable of and should be just fine with him being the sole #1 with his supporting cast.

I don't think it is crazy, first of all.

I would point out that "splitting" carries at Arkansas has been about 200 carries. That's close to a full load at many schools. Arkansas must replace about 200 carries. I think Collins could take about 100 of those. The question is what kind of diminishing returns will we see on a 50% increase in his workload. That, I'm not sure of. 1500 yards could happen. It could also wear him down.

Most rushing yards in Bert's HC career
1. Montee Ball, 1923 yards on 307 carries - 2011
2. Montee Ball, 1830 yards on 356 carries - 2012
3. Brian Calhoun, 1636 yards on 348 carries - 2005
4. PJ Hill, 1569 yards on 311 carries - 2006
5. John Clay, 1517 yards on 287 carries - 2009

It could definitely happen.

I wish that list had carries on it, so we'd know how many those guys needed to do that. I'd guess around 300-350?

I said yesterday that I believe KW will get to 1000, if not between him and RWIII will make up the yards that Jwill would have got. KW will suprise alot of people this year. he is finally healthy and is running like he was supposed to when he was recruited here. I really hope Collins can become the consistent back that jwill was. if he can watch out he will be amazing. Collins has not up to this point lived up to his potential and I'm not sure everyone really understands that. also coach B said that RWIII is the most focused freshman at any position he has ever coached. we will miss Jwill's pass pro, but if the others can improve day by day we will be just fine.

jwill had 211 carries last year. Collins had 204. total yards was jwill at 1190 and Collins at 1100, do the math.
