Will Vandy or Ole Miss join SEC baseball's elite club?
The Big 4 in SEC baseball are LSU, South Carolina, Missouri, and Georgia. No other SEC school has attained the elite status of winning the CWS.
The current SEC baseball elite:
1st Tier: Vandy, Ole Miss
2nd Tier: South Car., Florida, Miss.State, LSU
3rd Tier: Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama
4th Tier: Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Mizzou
Last 15 years:
South Carolina, LSU, Arkansas, Miss State, Vandy,
Florida, Ole Miss
Last 30 years:
LSU, South Carolina, Miss.State, Georgia

I think you're confused.
CWS champions: LSU, USCe, Missouri, Georgia
Not CWS champions: the rest

Not at all, just added the word "current."

Holy shite I thought Mississippi State was a baseball power house. No national championships? No national championships in anything ever? Hmmmm
Neither does OM as defined by the NCAA. Grantland Rice Company and Confederate Home & Garden doesn't count.

Congrats on a championship that you weren't even alive for.

Thanks Peev. Hang in there.
Maybe State will eventually get one.
Feels great to see Ole Miss still playing for another national title.

I would much rather go to ATL in 1998 than "win" a national championship in 1960. What hotel did you stay in when y'all went to the SEC championship game...?

Weak man. In what world is a national championship less prestigious than "Losing" an SEC championship game?
How many times did your mother change your pampers during that 1998 SEC championship game that Miss. State didn't even win?

I mean, at least we played a game for it. Us winning the west isn't debatable, championships in the 60's are.

fricking hilarious you think your team is in the Big 4. Your program is somewhere below Auburn and no one gives a shite about your team. No one cares you won a CWS 75 years ago anymore than people care about Ole Miss' record in the 50s.

Just as legit as some of the championships claimed by other schools (sup Alabama)
as legit as ole miss' claimed championships as well

That wreaks of the loser mentality that permeates throughout Starkville. Great moral victory though

Pete Boone disagrees.

What is debatable about the NCAA recognizing Ole Miss as a national champion?

Other schools make the same claim. The NCAA only recognizes 1960. However, they also recognize Minnesota as champions that year, and they were #1 in the AP and Coaches polls while OM only held the top in the FWAA. As you well know, the national champion is much like the highlander, there can only be one. Anyone who claims otherwise can take their bitch arse back to the soccer field.
Honestly, any title named by a poll and not a game is debatable IMO, but certainly any title that was not unanimous. I'm not making the case that it isn't recognized or that it wasn't a deserving team, only that one could debate it's worth.
