You're line and QB play is going to suck again, and ours will be the opposite.

Our o-line will be fine. They're not inexperienced freshman but an experienced group that needs to get used to working together more than anything else. Mistakes will happen but it's not gonna be that bad.

Our QB situation will also be fine - actually it will be pretty damn good because our WR/TE situation is fantastic.

Now our defense line and secondary.... we better hope the 14 coming in this summer are ready to play and even then I'm not expecting much.

Posted by Message DoreonthePlains Will TN make a bowl in 2014? I'm not saying the 2014 team wont be worse than 2013. My point is UT fans are relying on the step back for hopes of bowl eligibility.

Not really, we should've beat y'all last year. It's not like we need a step back to compete with y'all

Really? We played our second string secondary for 2nd half. If we don't keep giving the ball away, it's a comfortable win. How many people really think UT was the better team last year?

When Marquez North went down at the start of the game there was no one reliable to throw to on our team. He was the only reliable target last year. Our coaches made the calculation we could run it/play conservative and win. And had Pig not made that block in the back that called back Dobbs' TD, we would've won that game without passing.

Yup. Their win over Alabama will make them bowl eligible.

Utah St- L, Chuckie Keeton tears apart a green defense and a new o-line needs time to gel. Honestly USU should be favored going in.
Ark St- W
Oklahoma- Big L
UGA- L
UF- If Florida beats Bama the week before W (Muschamp struggles to keep Florida focused after big wins) otherwise L-- Florida should have the best DL in the SEC in 2014, and a great secondary again that combined with UT's line turnover could be disastrous
Chattanooga (really, is this actually an accredited college)- Big W
Ole Miss- L
USC- Payback by the OBC- L
Mizzou- Unsure about Mizzou post DGB- W, right now
UK-W
Vandy-W

I honestly think Butch Jones is a good coach-- would take him over Boom in a heart beat-- but your class turnover is just absurd this year. Beat Mizzou, close with 3 straight, make a bowl and 2015 looks good.

I think they'll be 2-2 heading into the UF game. UF is probably going to be 4-1, but the big thing is UF will be coming off of a bye.

So assuming that both teams are near full strength, I like Florida's chances in this game. Especially because of UT's relative youth on the LOS.

That being said, the schedule isn't soooo bad. They have 5 games that should be wins, and they just need to win one SEC game against a better/equal team. My guess is one of UF, OM, and Mizz.

I would not be surprised to see them bowling at 6-6.

We'll be a much more talented team but if we win the Bama game (which could be one of those absurdly ugly 10-7 Boom specials given the Tide's struggles at QB) I worry about a huge letdown-- look at us with Boom so far we tend to relax after big games and struggle against cupcakes like the Vols.

Shouldn't have quoted the whole thing. I wasn't debating that you all needed us to step back to compete. I just don't think you all "should've beat" us. That's all. I think the deserving team won that game.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say we were better, but just that we were leading late in the game.

I think that game could've easily swung our way and probably should've swung our way but it wound up swinging Vanderbilt's way and Vandy brought it home at the end. We made a critical coaching error since our coaches never accounted for North going down and had no backup plan and Vandy was able to capitalize on that and our mistakes, including some unforced errors. Hats off to the winner tho.

What's helping us more than anything is the turnover in the SEC East. I expect Vandy, UGA, USC, and Mizzou all to take a slight step back. You HAVE to think UF will be better, but who really knows.

More than a handful of teams are breaking in new QBs this season, which is always a bit scary.

You'd have a point about USC were it not for the fact that our running game should be scary good behind a very good, and deep and talented, offensive line. And the fact that Thompson is a solid, experienced and capable passer and field general.

I do believe the Vols will go bowling this season though. You will be improved.

I wouldn't be surprised either way but I always expect for UT to be bowl eligible. I'm still hoping for some miraculous turnaround this year.

I'll say the VOLS finish either 5-7 or 7-5.
