For all the talk about elite defenses, Florida's defense under Muschamp was at best equal to what it was under his predecessor- a guy who didn't juice the stats in order to pump up the defensive ratings.
Fact is the one year Muschamp had a truly elite defense (2012) he had a far better defensive mind than himself calling the shots and making second half adjustments.
Without Dan Quinn, Boom's teams often failed to do anything to adapt a gameplan if their initial one proved lacking- see the most yards allowed in Florida history (2014 vs Bama) or getting lit up by a team that failed to complete a single pass and throwing a temper tantrum to the press when called on it (hell just ask the moron about the midline and the stopping there of). Additionally, Muschamp prefers a passive approach on defense, thus despite being left a massive amount of DL talent his teams often struggled to pressure the opposing QB with any regularity.

Hard to take anyone that is calling him "chimp" seriously.
With that being said, he was awful with roster mgmt at UF. UF now has 8 OL (only 1 EE into draft). Thin at LB, and WM got 2 4* or better WR in the last 3yrs. The biggest flaw of all with Muschamp is he is a liar. All the BS on his way out about a loaded roster was crap. When you dig into the numbers, the only thing he should be thanked for is a loaded secondary. The rest is questionable. He puts on this big act that he's a tough guy, truth is, he was a yes man. Foley had his balls in a vice.
Insert McElwain, on the job for a month, has told Foley he wants a 120yd IPF and renovations for all football facilities including the football players living situation. This past wk UF passed an 80million dollar plan to upgrade everything football related. McElwain has put his stamp on the program in 1 month, which is something WM couldn't do in 4yrs.

He did a great job as DC in AU his first go around. Maybe it is the dumbass who gave a 38 year old the keys to a major program without head coaching experiance.
